Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

Any KBers out there who might have an answer to this one, please?  My battery drops by about one quarter every day, without Whispernet being turned on at all.  When I do use Whispernet for a download, my battery immediately drops another quarter - every time.  I figured my original battery was finally about to give up, so I replaced it.  I fully charged up the new battery and prepared to get a few days reading on this new one without daily charging.  Wrong!  Still getting exactly the same indicators - one quarter drop, more with Whispernet.  Got my K1 for Christmas, 2008.  This situation has been going on for a couple of months.  Any ideas?  Just keep charging it up every morning until it finally dies?  Or is there something I'm missing?

I would try to keep going, even when it says the battery is getting low.  I've heard that, even though the battery itself doesn't need conditioning, the meter in the electronics might need to be recalibrated.  It can't really hurt to try.

Two questions:

1.  Are you using the original charger to charge it?  Or a 3rd party such as iGo
2.  What's your normal charging regime (or at least with the original battery)?  Do you charge every day?  I've read that it's good to let the battery die down completely every now and then (good thing as I do that unintentionally) to reset the "recharge" status.

I found mine started draining faster after loading a lot of books at once. . . .even though it appeared to have finished indexing it would still be drained after a day.  So I did an overnight charge and then restarted it while still plugged in the next morning.  It's been fine since then.  I've had my K1 since June of 2008
