I really like the look and feel of the naked kindle, but now you guys have got em worried about smudges and whatnot -- I might have to go for the silicon skin that I learned about here a few weeks ago.

I like the silicone cover.  Although it is a magnet for lint/pet hair/etc., it adds a nice little layer of protection, and because it's clear, you still get that naked Kindle look.  I only use it when I'm at home.  When my Kindle travels with me, the silicone cover can't come along because it won't fit into my M-edge sleeve.  So when I'm away from home, my Kindle is perfectly naked.  Wink

My Kindle lived naked in it's Amazon cover for over a year.  Last week I finally broke down and ordered a black matte skin.  I bought a skin sheerly for  (1) keeping the Kindle clean and (2) hopefully increasing the screen contrast so I won't have to install the font hack.
Where did you find a matte black one???  I would LOVE that.

My K1 never had a skin. Its in its oberon at all times. Don't think I like skins, maybe one that is all one color. Couldn't take the distracting prints. I eat all the time when I read, even munchies that stain.  Grin. Everything always comes off easy with a microfiber cloth.

Now the crumbs in the cracks on the other hand ..... Grin

they don't make q tips small enough for all those cracks on K1.  Shocked

I have used that spray air on it before.

Works for me.  I turn it off and then just gently work the fibres of the Q-tip (not the whole thing, of course!) into the crack and go back and forth a few times.

My crumbs seem to love going in where the buttons meet and under the bezel where the screen goes into the plastic. I can't get in there with a q tip. My buttons are not very straight and so there are lots of crumb calling areas  Grin I can sometimes see them in there, especially where the large next page button meets the back button. Since the large button is out of alignment, its to easy. Its not just crumbs, I find hairballs and fuzz.

I think because of where I store my Kindle, under a lamp and next to electronic devices, it all flies to it. Or maybe my cats get up at night and rub all over it. Cheesy

I think the K2 is a little less crack challenged, but I never seen one so I can only go by pics.

Just shake it up, up and down and sideways.  Usually works great with my laptop in getting some crap out.

I have a Belkin Neoprene case to store my Kindle 2 in.  This prevents the Kindle from getting dusty, and gives a bit of protection against some sort of accident while the Kindle isn't in use.  When reading my Kindle, I love having the small flat panel with easy access to the keys on either side, and I wouldn't dream of messing my Kindle up by putting it in a folder type cover or similar contraption!

If I consistently dragged my Kindle around airports to practice juggling, etc., I might reconsider, but not for now.
