Naked Kindle?

My Kindle is nekkid and I like is that way.  Although I think many of the skins are so pretty and I love looking at them, I really like my K2's simple, clean, look.  I have a clear silicone cover that I use when the Kindle's not in my M-Edge page sleeve.  Anyone else have a naked Kindle?

My K1 had an M-Edge cover, but no skin, for about 9 months. Then I started noticing how "dingy" it was getting. The white was not so white anymore due to accumulated fingerprint oils and hard usage. I promptly got a Decal Girl skin and used it that way until I broke it last month by dropping it face down on a concrete sidewalk with the cover open due to my unfortunate habit of reading it while walking from the bus stop to work.

Now that I have a new K2, the first thing I did was get a cover and a skin for it (JavoEdge Cocoa Cherry Blossom flip case and a leopard skin print from Decal Girl). I'd post pics but I'm technology challenged.

I was perfectly FINE with my nekkid K2, but then the dark smudges appeared. I could see a fingerprint. That did it - got my first skin. Then got a second skin. Now I'm happy with my 2nd skin. My Kindle looks fantastic! It now has 4 cases depending on 1) destination and 2) need. Today's case is the Oberon Da Vinci in saddle.

Having such nice cases prompted me to want to protect the cases so yesterday I ordered a BorsaBella bag. Is there an end to this?

I don't have a skin but mine is almost always in my Javoegde case and then I also have a BorsaBella bag to keep it in.

I haven't noticed any smudges or fingerprints but I try not to eat while reading and to make sure my hands are always clean while using it, the same I would do with a normal book. So far it seems to be working.

Ahhhhh! Eating! I always drag out my Kindle when eating lunch at my desk! I munch Movie Theatre Popcorn while reading my Kindle. Eating and reading go together like drinking and smoking did... (ummmmm, in my youth that is!) 

Doesn't matter if one's Kindle is dressed or nekkid - it's great to own!!!

Before I got my K2 I took my ipod to show my friend who was getting one.  When I took it out, I noticed how dirty and fingerprinty it was.  I was kind of embarrassed actually.  So when I got the K2, I got a decal right away.  I think it's just an additional protective layer between the machine and the rest of the world, more that just for "pretty."

Ditto worktolive almost exactly, except that I don't have the same skin she does.  After a few months of use I noticed that my Kindle did get a little dingy where I held it.  You can clean it of course, but...  I'm probably not quite as careful with it as MLPMom

I'm another one who doesn't care for skins.  They are gorgeous, don't get me wrong but I would find it sooooo distracting, trying to read from that.  I wear glasses and always having to clean them so I give the screen a very light mist of lens cleaner, clean the screen first with the same (probably) micro-thingie cloth that I use to clean my glasses and when only a bit of moisture is left, I wipe off the front of the Kindle.  The back is on it's own since it's never handled anyway, Kindle residing in one case or another.

Nothing wrong with a nekid K, but I'm really liking the nice, well oiled patina my Oberon cover is getting from use.

I had my K2 for several weeks before Decal Girl released even their first decals for that model.  So I had quite a bit of reading time with a naked Kindle--enough that I was tempted to send it back to Amazon.  I found the bright white INCREDIBLY distracting, far more than I've ever found with a skin.  My eyes kept drifting off the greyish screen onto the white border, and for me it was hard to concentrate on my reading.  So once they were available, I bought a DG skin in a fairly dark, fairly abstract design. I've changed it once, for an image that's even darker and less defined.

And like others, I tend away from white objects on the simple premise that they'll be showing dirt in a very short time!    Call me crazy, but I don't want to have to be ultra careful with the things I buy.  I want them to fit my lifestyle, I don't want to have to adapt my lifestyle to fit some new device.

My sister in law, on the other hand, has a nekkid Kindle with the original Amazon cover, and she's perfectly content!

This is unacceptable!  Embrace what the Kindle can offer you!  Plug in some earphones and make the Kindle read to you while walking, using the text-to-speech function.  Also consider keeping an audiobook on your Kindle, if you don't like the text-to-speech voices.  I'm also a read-while-walking person, but this way you can do it safely.

I use the text to speech when cooking. Sometimes I prop up the Kindle on the Book Gem but that's only if I can stand at the stove w/o moving around a lot. I enjoyed the text to speech. I may try that on the long vanpool drive into work in the wee dark hours of the morning. Usually, I play an audible book on my iPod Touch. Audibles are professionally read and quite enjoyable. The Kindle speech leaves a lot to be desired, but hey... it works!

(Just the mere THOUGHT of dropping a nekkid Kindle makes my stomach turn!) oy!

My Kindle is skinless, and I use the original Amazon black cover for it.  I've had it for a year, used it everyday, taken it on trips, and the white plastic is still clean.  But I'm naturually very gentle on things; it's just the way I am.  For example, my husband and I have twin phones that we bought at the same time about 4 years ago.  His even had a cover for a while, mine never has had one and stays in my purse when not in use.  His is scratched up while mine looks new.

The only thing I'd like now is one of the new Amazon covers that come with a strap.  I'm not interested in the other covers, but I'm glad there's a variety for those who want them.

When I first got mine it was nekkid for a month, but always had a cover. Then I got caught up in the skin craze and had 2 different skins, and then I went nekkid again, for about 4 months. Now I have a skin again, but thinking nekkid is really cool.

My Kindle lived naked in it's Amazon cover for over a year.  Last week I finally broke down and ordered a black matte skin.  I bought a skin sheerly for  (1) keeping the Kindle clean and (2) hopefully increasing the screen contrast so I won't have to install the font hack.

I realize I'm in the minority, but all those patterned skins make me wanna cover my eyes and run away from the computer screen.  They are way too distracting for my keep-it-simple self.  I'll be a happy camper if future versions of the Kindle are available in black.

I have never liked skins.  And I keep moving back and forth between cases.  Just haven't found one I like.  I prefer no case, but I want something when traveling.  I have one I made that I like but it is getting old and needs to be replaced.

I like a nekkid Kindle too.  So the skin I ordered is mostly white with blue squiggles http://www.decalgirl.com/item.view/20001  I want to retain it's "Kindle" look. I thought about solid white.

I'm also really careful with my things.  I can't stand scratches, dings, dents, or smudges!

My K1 has always been naked, AND in the original cover!
I tried an m-edge and a Strangedog cover, but prefer the stock one.
(Unless by the pool or at the beach, then I use the m-edge leisure suit.)
