I CAN'T FIND MY CHARGER!!!!!!  My kitten Jonah is a little too interested in, it, LOL, and last week one night he got obsessed w/ it (usually it's next to my bed).  I THOUGHT I unplugged it and put it in my dresser drawer.  When I went to look for it to charge the K, it wasn't there.  It also wasn't anywhere else I looked, at work, in my purse, etc. ARGHGGHGHGHG!!!!

Just placed an order for a new one with NEXT DAY SHIPPING b/c I'm running on fumes. I'm sure this means I'll find it tonight, LOL.  But at least then I'll have a spare. I also ordered a new battery (just in case!) and a Kandle, since I'd been wanting to try it.

I probably won't be able to read tonight, though.   Sad Sad Sad What's that thing on the table again?  With the screen and the picture? I guess I'll have to turn THAT on, LOL. Wink

So sorry to hear your charger disappeared.
I ordered an iGo charger set quite a while ago when they were offering the K1 set for something like $5.
It was a great bargain.  I got the car charger, home charger and tip.  It's great in case I can't find my
original charger.

Too late -- already ordered the "official" one for $19 plus a ton of shipping. Wink It's o.k. -- it's worth it.  I can't believe I did that, though.  And I'm 100% sure it WILL turn up eventually.

I don't own a K, so pardon the ignorance...  Couldn't you just charge it via a standard USB cable connected to your computer?

There were claims early on that the K1 could be charged VERY SLOWLY via USB if it was turned off (not sleeping)--on the order of a third to a half charge every 24 hours.  But I have not been able to verify this myself.

When I experienced basically the same problem as the OP (left the charger at my father-in-law's house), I bought a radio shack car charger for sprint pcs phones for $5.  I still use it to this day.

Don't feel bad, I can't find mine either! I've looked everywhere.  Roll Eyes I do have the USB cable, so at least I can charge through the computer until the darned thing turns up.

They have these things I used to use, I'm not sure if they still make them, or have any left anywhere to buy, but they were made from dead trees. Now that sounds just silly, doesn't it? Like you're going to lug around a dead tree. ha! But what they did was they flattened the trees into reeeeally, reeeeally thin trees, and then cut them up into ...oh, about kindle sized pieces, iirc. Then they'd write out stories on them -I'm sure it took a long time, but they had to to that way back in the day. I remember reading off these flattened trees, and sometimes they were kind of heavy. Oh, God forbid I had to look up a word in the dictionary! That thing was huge! And heeeeavy! But at least if you can find one of these old fashioned devices, you could use it until you could recharge your Kindle.

You have a couple of options. You can use Kindle for PC in the meantime.
And my LG XENON phone is the same charger as my Kindle charger. Do you have this phone?

I remember those things as well!

Thanks for the good laugh.

I've had three cats over a twenty three year period, and it was always a balancing act between them and the computer/electronic gadgets.  But I wouldn't give up on finding the Kindle charger because it is there.  The good part of this is when you get the new one, and find the original one, you will have a backup and you can leave one at home and take one with you when you travel.

I went on a six week trip last summer, and all my chargers were lost somehow, I still don't understand what happened to them.  There were about eight different devices which I needed to replace chargers for.  The devices that caused me the most panic were the cell phone and the Kindle 2.  Those were the first to be replaced, and then I picked up the other chargers over time.  Now I have the Amazon Kindle 2/DX charger/USB arrangement, and an IGO charger with the correct tip.  I feel much better about having a backup because you never know when you travel what might happen to your things between point A and point B.

Thank-you Amazon for the Kindle, I am reading print again after being away from it for 15 years because of decreasing vision.  I never walk out my front door without my Kindle DXG and Fire, they have been both liberating and life changing for me.  Thanks again.  Sincerely, Gene

I have 3 or 4 phone chargers because the one I'd lost turned up right after the new ones (cheap ones but great) came.

Amazingly, it still hasn't shown up!! I read last night for an hour before the battery said, "I'm done!" and it was time for sleep anyway.  Just tracked the package and it should be at my house when I get home.  So it's all good.

I'm mystified as to where the thing could be.  I just always put it in my dresser drawer when Jonah gets too interested in it.  Tore the house apart again last, and still NADA!

Huh.  I have never had any reason to plug the K into a computer.  I think it did come w/ a USB cable but I have no idea where it is.  Yours didn't come w/ a wall charger??  You have to charge it via the computer? That just seems bizarre to me.  Keeping the charger next to the bed (until Jonah came along, that is) worked great for me.

Did you buy yours used? The K2's charger is different than the K1's -- the K2 converts from wall to USB charger by removing a wall plug 'tip' from the USB plug. If you bought your used, I can see it getting lost (my big fear). But if you bought it new, it should have come in the box (attached to the USB plug, I believe). If it didn't, you should probably call Amazon.
