Just logged onto Amazon and was surprised to see that the Kindle for Mac application is now available. Didn't see a thread here so wanted everyone to know. Enjoy! http://www.amazon.com/kindleformacTom

Downloaded, installed, and now checking out first sample. Now I will take all of my samples off my K2 and download them to this new app.

I use it to read samples and very occasionally to read books, usually in hotel rooms after my hubby has gone to bed so I don't have to fiddle with my book light.
I'm guessing getting the Kindle for Mac app out is part of the response to Apple's iPad.

Yep, that's my suspicion as well. I don't know why having Kindle for Mac enthralls me. Maybe I just like having my books everywhere and anywhere. My Mac Air travels with me, but now that I have a Kindle, it will travel too! It's like... I want it all!

Perhaps not novels; but there are some books that are "Optimized For Large Screens". It's far better to read these on the Mac rather than the small screen of my K2.

I think this is fabulous! I love the idea of downloading samples to my MAC instead of my Kindle when I am searching online for books. I would love to be able to read the sample online instead of cluttering up my Kindle with samples.

That's true, too. There are some books with pictures, etc, that I'm looking forward to seeing on the Kindle for PC app, even if I actually read the book on my K. Betsy
