So while I was ordering a replacement charger, I ordered a spare battery for my K1. I got worried that they would disappear (as much K1 stuff is!) and I'd be outta luck.

So how do I store it?  Fridge? Freezer?  Stuff drawer?  My current battery is fine -- this is just in case.  So I won't need it for a while (hopefully).

Cool, dry location.  Please don't ever, ever put a battery in the freezer.

Anyone know if I can get a spare battery for a K2?   Do I have to pop the bonnet?

You can't get one for the K2.  One of several mistakes they made (IMHO) w/ the K2.  You have to send it back to them if the battery dies and they replace it.

Actually, you can get a battery for the K2 and replace it yourself.  Here's a link someone posted awhile back:

I got a spare K1 battery a few months ago.  I charged it up in my Kindle and then put it back in its box and in the refrigerator--not the freezer, though.  I replaced my original battery with it about 3 weeks ago, after letting it come to room temperature first.  It registered fully charged when I put it in my Kindle, but I charged it anyway.  I'm not sure if this is all what you're supposed to do, but the battery is working great so far.

BTW, I charged up the original battery and put it in the refrigerator too.  You never know when a short-life battery might come in handy!

Why should I charge it first?

I don't know.  Hubby recommended it.  I defer to him on all such matters...but not much else!  Wink  I'll ask him, though.
