I just purchased a book fom ebooks.com in epub format assuming I could convert it with calibre to put on my kindle and it says it can't convert because it is drm'ed....what now. Did i just waste 10 bucks???

You could try to export it to something like PDF or HTML as one step. Maybe that works, though I doubt it. Still, it might be worth trying. If that works you can always create a Kindle file from those exports.
You might also want to try something like Stanza or so, which can also do a lot of format conversions.

there is a way to strip drm, but I'm not sure if this allowed to talk about here.

If you purchased a book that has DRM you can not legally (or maybe it's ethically or morally) strip the DRM so as to be able to read it on a device for which it's DRM scheme was not designed.

KindleBoards does not condone the stripping of DRM, nor does it allow the discussion of how to do it or links to sites that might provide the tools.

You can contact them and see if they'll refund your $10.  If not, they probably have a way to read it on your computer or smartphone if you have one.  Probably with Adobe Digital Editions software for the phone, there's a list of supported devices here http://ebooks.com/help/reader-devices/supported-devices.asp
