if a book on your TBR is not in any of the databases do you go through the trouble of adding them manually?  if so what is the easiest way to do this?

You can add a book.  You will need things like isbns, etc.

goodreads has a real nice iphone app, is great for finding series order, and to see cover art.

Yes, I always add books that are not in the database. All you have to do is enter the title of the book in the site's main search box and check the results. If it doesn't show up, there's a link on the right hand side that says something like "Add this book manually." Click on it and you can enter the detail information about the book right there. It is added to the database in real time as soon as you hit the "Submit" button.
