I went back this morning and was rechecking prices on e-books - especially the ones that were priced higher than the paperback version.

Haven't done an in depth study yet but the Hachette books I checked have been repriced down to the SAME price as the paperback.  It may be weeks before all of this pricing is sorted out.

with this whole re-pricing issue I have decided that I will not pay the same price for an e-book that I would be expected to pay for a paperback, and I DEFINITELY won't pay more.  I've written to a couple of publishers to pass this decision along and am hoping that many others will do the same.

May be they will, may be they won't.  But we are in for a tough battle.

I posted links on the bargain books thread, but 2 Hachette books in the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters are now listed at $1.99.  The new release in that series set for release on Tuesday is still showing at $12.99.  I ordered it for $9.99 before all this hit, and my status page says I am still getting it at that price.  Most of the books in the series are  priced at $7.99.  The corresponding mass market prices are $9.99.

Finished going throuh my wish list finally and actually I am in good shape.  At least it looks a lot better than yesterday.  Some of the e-book prices were just wierd.

Harper Collins e-books are now mostly cheaper than the paperbacks and about 40% of my wish list books Random House or one of its subsidiaries.  At two books a week, right now I can go a month on what is on my Kindle now and another 2 months on books that are reasonably priced.

Barring unforseen events, I have enough e-books available to ride this quarter out and hope for saner time in the future.
