In a discussion on ebook pricing a book on the music industry was recommended to me.  The book was Appetite for Self-Destruction and it chronicles the fall of the music industry in the digital age.

What I found ironic was the pricing.  I can get a paperback copy for $11.53 or I can get a copy for my Kindle for only $17.99.

Do publishers ever read the books they publish?

The Amazon page for this book is http://www.amazon.com/Appetite-Self-Destruction-Spectacular-Industry-ebook/dp/B001NLKTA6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&s=digital-text&qid=1270558077&sr=1-1

Definitely ironic. It just goes to show the publisher saw that book as a sound business investment and probably never even read it. They certainly didn't take it to heart.

I used to be frustrated that publishers were holding back e-books with unreasonable prices, restrictive DRM, blocking text-to-speech, delaying releases, etc. But now I say, "burn baby burn." There are too many of us that are hooked on our e-books and publishers won't be able to stop the tide. But, by deciding to fight against it, they've guaranteed that they will be swept under instead of riding the wave.
