According to Amazon's website, there are almost 14,000 reviews of the Kindle - with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5. Not too shabby!

Some of the lower ratings are recent, citing the price increases and unavailability books.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Amazon had better settle this mess with the publishers sooner rather than later.

4Katie,

The Kindle ratings are quite impressive!  As far as the agency model is concerned, I think the market will have to ultimately settle the price issue (i.e., Kindle readers will need to purchase only books listed for $9.99 or less, at least most of the time).

Makes me wonder how many of those reviews are paid by Amazon.

Don't think Amazon would want anything to diminish the popularity of their best selling product.
