I'm just curious what the ratio is.  I know there are less DX owners, but just curious how many fewer.

I'm a bit frustrated that there are fewer choices for covers and bags available for us DX owners.  Bobarra says that it's not worth their while to make DX covers because there's not enough demand, yet they have an empty section for DX implying that they will be coming.

People are always sharing their cute bags and covers that we can't get for our DX Embarrassed

The Jtote bags would fit a DX easy!

I have both DX and kindle. I usually have used DX in my house but I also did not find a proper bag for DX. Instead of buying a bag for kindle DX, I decided to buy secondhand 6" Kindle to read it outside my house. That is another option.  Wink

Borsa Bella makes a bag to fit the DX (it also fits small netbooks) and she'll custom make it in any fabric you choose.

j'tote is expensive, but will hold a DX nicely.  Or any mini-laptop bag, really. . .you just have to find one that has the right dimensions.  The small one from Vera Bradley holds the iPad. . .bet it would hold the DX as well.

All that said, I don't take my DX out all that much.  Just around the area I only carry my Kindle (Klassic, thank you very much Smiley ).  When I go on a road trip, I take the DX with me cause it's the one my newspapers/blogs/magazines go to and they really do work better on it than the Kindle.  I was flying a couple of weeks ago and elected not to take the DX -- instead I switched the WaPo subscription to my Kindle for the weekend -- and I was reminded how much better the navigation is on the DX.  But I digress.  Anyway, when I do take the DX with me, it goes in my j'tote or other laptop bag with my laptop.  It lives, in general, in it's Oberon cover.

Also, you know those portfolios you can get that have a notepad on the right side and a pocket on the left and zip up all the way around?  The DX fits just fine in such a thing.  Doesn't have a carry strap, but it is some protection.  Mostly they're basic black, (with a company logo sometimes, 'cause they're done up to give out free) but I bet if you look you can find fancier ones.

Well, I'd rather buy books with the money a J Tote costs.  They are nice, but I don't believe any bag is worth that much money.  I'm on a budget, and they are not part of it  Grin

I'll probably end up making my own.  I'd just like to see more options for the DX.

I still wonder what the ratio is of DX vs. Kindle 2.

I don't think anyone, except maybe Jeff Bezos, knows the ratio or actual number of DX vs Kindles sold.  Though it's probably many fewer DX than Kindle just based on price.

Have you looked at Amazon for DX covers:  Here's a link:  http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-DX-97-Covers-Accessories/b/ref=ka_six_accessories_DXcovers?ie=UTF8&node=1288332011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0MN40MN0J9V11NWCS3DX&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=51293682&pf_rd_i=1268192011

It looks like there are 4 pages of covers/slip cases/etc. in various colors and styles.  No 'bags' per se, but then, there aren't many of them for Kindle either.  Most folks troll the internet for something that will 'work'.  Or wander the handbag section of someplace like Target! Grin

It's top secret!  We normal everyday people can only have a glimpse of a small part of the figures.  If you must, check out the Kindle product pages on Amazon and compare the number of reviews.  Of course, not everybody wrote a review after they purchased the product, so many Kindle owners are still unaccounted for.  On the other hand, there might be some people who wrote a review but never purchased the product.

These numbers only show a rough ratio - as of this moment on Amazon.com:
Kindle 1 - 7,815 reviews
Kindle 2 U.S. & Global - 14,389 reviews
Kindle DX U.S. & Global - 1,545 reviews

I, too, have found the DX accessory choices lacking.  Luckily I think I will be able to make do with what's already available.  I'm a large tote/messenger bag person, so it's not too difficult to find appropriately sized bags for the DX.  However, I still prefer more choices in colour and style for the cases and sleeves.
