I'm a new Outlander reader & fan.  Finished Outlander on Saturday and about 1/4 of the way through #2, and OMG it's made me cry a few times already. Reading it on Mother's day (y/day) my kids wanted to know why I was all red-eyed when I should be happy & doing mom-stuff. Couldn't put the book down though, except to bake a big cake to make me feel better.

Never thought of baking a big cake to get me over all the heart-rending scenes in Outlander.   Did it work?   Grin

Welcome to our obsession.  Once you're hooked by Jamie and Claire, they'll never let you go.

Join in the Klub whenever you catch up.  We've got another four weeks to go with Voyager; we'll probably take a week off and then start reading Drums of Autumn

LOL No the cake didn't really work, just took my mind off it a small bit so then I could read again without crying and making my husband roll his eyes all the time. But the cake tasted good!

I'll try to catch up.... wish I'd been reading at the same time as all the other discussions were going on. I read through a bit of the Dragonfly in Amber discussions but didn't go to far so I wouldn't chance any spoilers. I won't even read the descriptions of the books on Amazon.

Oh, another obsession.... I was only just getting over my Twilight/ Edward obsession  Grin

Welcome to the group. Jamie and Claire are very easy to obsess over. Next you will be dreaming about them and looking for a tall, gorgeous, red-headed Scot.

LOL I did last night. I usually do dream about whatever book I am reading - and I usually read Stephen King and similar so that usually means nightmares. When I was in my Twilight phase, it was all vampires; so last night it was a Scot chasing through the streets of Paris.

That's a much better dream.  Stick with us for a good night's sleep; except, of course, when you stay up half the night reading.   Cheesy

oh my - no amount of cake would have helped last night. Read up to Claire going back through the stones in Dragonfly in Amber, and couldn't even see the page for crying.  Cry

Okay, now you've got me in tears.  No matter how many times I read that part, it gets to me.

I'm sure! I woke up all puffy-eyed this morning, and thought I could read a bit before work, but nope - I was drinking coffee and crying again at 7am this morning.

I'm trying!  Got up to chapter 9 of Voyager this morning and I have hope, and that I'll finally catch up and be able to join in.
I'd been reading the other discussions of DIA as I got past the relevant chapters, but stopped because there were a few unintended spoilers from people who had read them before & knew how things would turn out. I don't even read the story overview on Amazon because I don't want to know anything at all!

Hopefully work will be slow today so I can grab my kindle lol. But my husband & I run our own business and if he sees me reading again, he'll grab me to do something more useful instead ha!

What could possibly be more useful than reading Voyager?   Grin

You don't have to wait until you catch up.  I believe the first discussion was chapters 1-13.  When you finish those chapters, drop into that discussion and we'll join you there.  We love to talk about Jamie and Claire.

When I decided to launch AP, I remembered that.  I had an "oh, no" moment.  Everyone is going to expect me to be as good as DG and they'll be disappointed.

It is funny.

Sharing it with my friends here has been the best part.  That wouldn't have been possible with a traditional publisher.   Cheesy

When I decided to write AP, it was just an idea I had and I wanted to see if I could do it.  I was surprised when I actually finished writing a whole book, and even more surprised that it might actually be good.  But that was just my own opinion.

When it's your opinion, and others here on KB ... well ...

Does anyone else have *strange* dreams while reading these books?  I almost always dream about the books I am reading but I've been having the oddest type of dreams for about a week, and I am not sure if it's because of how detailed these books are or because of the Kindle.  Basically, instead of dreaming in images, I am dreaming in words - seeing whole paragraphs scroll up like the credits on a movie and I wake up reading them out loud. They are all related to Outlander but not words that I have already read, instead new stories about Jamie & Claire.

It's ever so bizarre, and my husband is convinced it's because of the Kindle, but I think it's because of DG's writing - or at least a combination of the writing and reading it on a Kindle.  Wondered if anyone else had ever done this?

Wish I could remember all the words... I'd write them down and do some fanfiction. At least from what I remember waking up in the middle of the night, they are pretty good LOL.

LOL - well it's a toss up between staying asleep dreaming up stories about Jamie or getting up early and reading about Jamie. If my dreams were images, maybe I'd just stay in bed and go back to sleep!

My husband sleeps like the dead and talks in his sleep constantly, so a tape recorder would just get his ramblings.  I *think* that I don't - I just wake up reading the words to myself in my head, I think. It's so weird.
