Did anyone watch The Suze Orman Show tonight? On her "Can I Afford It?" segment, an individual wanted to buy her boyfriend a Kindle.
Even though she really couldn't afford it--according to Orman's rules--she was approved anyway because her boyfriend was seen as financially supportive towards her.

As soon as the girl said she wanted to buy a refurbished Kindle for her boyfriend, though, Suze Orman asked her why she didn't just buy him an iPad. Sad

Is she not aware that an iPad costs at least twice as much as a Kindle, and is a completely different device?

Apparently not. I thought it was really odd that she would suggest something that cost more, too. Normally, she tries to find cheaper alternatives for individuals during that segment. *shrug*
During that segment, she is typically judgmental, though. Some things people buy she will give this look like they're out of their minds.

If the caller was talking about a Kindle DX (which is about as much as an entry-level iPad. even refurbished) then Ms. Orman's advice would make sense... but if the caller was thinking about a Kindle 2, then yeah I'm wondering what was up with that.

I happened to have coincidentaly witnessed Suzi's advice that she consider the iPad when she was clearly asking only about purchasing a Kindle. Personally, I felt Suzi was quite irresponsible in with that reply. So sad, in my opinion.

Whoops! I forgot to mention that, but it was a refurbished K2.
