M-Edge Prodigy and folding it back? Issues?

Hello all,

I got a M-Edge Prodigy cover and it doesn't fold back nicely. It leaves space on the left that makes it fairly uncomfortable to read.

I love the Platform cover I have and am using it almost exclusively - but I like to have variety so I'd love to get this Prodigy cover to work. I like the hinge system as it feels very secure but this folding back is just driving me crazy

You can see below how it normally looks and then how it would look if it was folded where I'd like it..but that's just too much material to hold onto and makes the case way too thick! Any ideas?

Personally I would return it.  Folding back the bulging cover that way is going to put extra stress on the hinge and crack your Kindle.

Wouldn't want it to do that...and I haven't been holding onto it that way so that's good.

I bought it used off the buy,sell,trade board here. I guess I'll either try to resell it or just hold on to it as a real extra case just in case.

I'm glad to see you posted this.  This is the very reason that I don't care for the M-edge covers.  They all have that space at the left side of the Kindle, for storing the light I guess, but I really don't like that.  I think that extra space there makes it difficult to fold back.

Well the Platform M-Edge cover is fabulous -- it doesn't have a lot of extra material and it doesn't bother me to hold it..in fact it is super comfortable when I do since it fits nicely.

It's just the Prodigy one that feels awkward. I can't read with it open like a book (that left piece swinging) and when you fold it there is too much material for me to hold it AND hit the next page button..which leaves me doing it only with the right side..which is lobsided.

Oh ughh..I'll just use it as backup...makes me wonder if the rest of the cases that are book style have the same issue?

Well, it's why I have stayed away from book-style covers -- although I am strongly right-handed, I handle the pages (next/back) with my left hand preferentially.  But many people have posted they read with their Oberon/Noreve yes and even other M-Edge covers folded back.  I think it's just the extra space for the light, and maybe they got a batch of real stiff leather (?).

I had this issue with the Prodigy also which is why I hardly used it  .  I think it is because you need extra "material" to go over the light.  I loved the convenience of the light but did not find the cover comfortable to hold while reading.  The Noreve is a book style and is much easier to hold which is why I love it.  I have to use a seperate light, but I don't need a light while reading very much.

I have 2 M-Edge Prodigy's and love them;
I fold mine back and after getting over the initial stiffness that happens with new leather, they both fold back very nicely.
However, it is not going to fold where you want it to; even if it did eventually fold flat there, you would have the back cover extending out toward the right; it would also place undue stress on the hinge system and the light wouldn't be supported.
I paid attention today to how I held it one-handed, when it is folded like that,  I even took some pics, that I can post later, but what I noticed that, when I held it one-handed with my left hand, I either held it with my at thumb at about a 30 degree angle near the center of the spine next to the light; another way I held it was with my thumb near the top left corner above the keyboard.
I have small hands, and it is never uncomfortable.
The Prodigy is a great cover; if you like it, I'd recommend giving it a little bit of time to adjust to how it works; if you don't like it, you can probably resell it.

That is why I got an Oberon after my Prodigy. It is also why I sold my Icon cover as well.

My Oberon thankfully doesn't have any extra leather like the MEdge does.

I've recently bought a Noreve cover for my K2 and the leather on that is very flexible. The cover bends open, flat against the back, straight from the box.

I have the exact same prodigy cover.  It does get a little better over time (I didn't believe it either, but it did.)  It's still not "good" but better.  My sister has the prodigy cover in the "pebbled" finish and it folds back MUCH MUCH better.  I believe it's just the nature of the smooth leather of the jade green.

I would like to get another prodigy cover, but I am holding out hope that they expand the color choices a little.
