Collections question

I created several collections and added my books to them. Now when I sort by collection, I see the collections and only the books that I have not put into a collection. However, I have 6 books that are in a collection that are still showing up in the list even when sorting by collection. Any ideas why?

I haven't come across that problem and I've had v2.5 for almost a month now. Judging by the lack of response it would seem no-one else has either. I can only suggest you do a sync & check for items and then restart your Kindle and see if that corrects it. You could always delete the books and redownload them if they're Amazon books (they'll automatically go into the same collections, you won't have to do all that again) or if you have backups of non-Amazon books you could do the same with those. I don't suppose there's any chance you have two slightly different copies of these books? If you've amended them in calibre or something similar then sent them back to your device without deleting the originals, you would end up with two copies.

Other than that, I'm stuck for ideas.

I have downloaded them again. I will try syncing. I am wary of restarting the kindle. I did that earlier and all of the collections were gone when it booted up and I had to create them again.

The collections shouldn't disappear if you restart - that's very strange - you may have a faulty device. One more thing - you are sorting your home page by collections? If you sort by author, title or most recent, all your books will show up whether they're in a collection or not.

Yes I am sorting by collection. I may do a factory reset and start over again and see if that clears things up.

Have you got good Whispernet coverage? There are some people in other threads who've had collections problems and been told by Amazon that if they don't have their wireless on Amazon can't back up their collections. You need to get them synced with Amazon servers before you do a reset or they'll be lost again.

Got the problem solved. The books were on my kindle but were also showing as being archived. I didn't know that could happen but it did. I removed them from the collections and then deleted them from the kindle. I then restored the archives to the home page and put them back into their respective collections and they are not showing twice now.

It's a pity there wasn't a less time consuming fix but I'm glad you've got it sorted.

Fortunately it was only a few of the books.
