So my husband uses the original purchase of Kindle 1 US

 after reading a while at a page turn the page was a bit corrupted - my husbands description, turned the page again to error message to be returned back to kindles front page - table of contents. Now no title will open - just "unexpected error".
 
callled CS - reset, turn off turn on, to no fix, He sent this to the engineers and they well call you back

now I have called twice - still at engineers  - have to wait

do they ever call back?

Since you don't give a time frame, it is hard to know how long you have actually been waiting. In my experience, CS does call back - it just may take them awhile to figure out what the problem is!

The next time you call ask if for a time line. If the person can't give you one, ask for the supervisor. Remember to be polite. the people handeling the call are not the ones setting the timeline. You are frustrated but the problem is not with them. Politeness might get you some additional pressure applied by CS to the engineers.

I was told on one of my Kindles that they had to check on something. It was one of my sun fade issues. They told me when they would call back and I didn't get the call. I had to call them back 2 times. After that I ask for a manager and all of a sudden I was escalated quickly. I hate being told they are going to call back and not getting the call. I don't think you are a pest at all. Keep calling until you get an answer.

I think that you have been very patient! I would certainly move up the supervisor line until you get someone who is helpful. It may be that the K1 can't be fixed and will need to be replaces. My husband has a k1 and I am already saving for the replacement!

Try removing the book from the Kindle and redownloading.

yes I do have a new battery.  it will turn pages on k's TOC it just won't open a title.

hey so I called again SO
He had me delete all my title download title  and no that did not work

so

he talked me through a reset of software, when it started up it came up to the brand new Welcome to kindle. then i downloaded a title and it worked !

so had to delete all 180 titles but its working now

as now its my husband kindle i will let him choose the titles on it.
