Can you tell me how you're attempting to add them? e.g. as pictures?

I have a myspace page up right now so can test this real-time with you.

I went to "edit" profile and tried to add the code to my books section. When I previewed, it looked fine but when I went to check out my actual page, it looked like code but parts of it was clickable.

I inserted the code - using the HTML code - into my Books section, and saved the profile. It seemed to work okay for me. Here's a screenshot:

Did you use the HTML code, and not the bbcode? (The HTML code should work in the myspace page. Bbcode will not.)
i.e.:
Code:
<a href="http://www.kindleboards.com"><img src="http://www.kindleboards.com/graphics/kindleboards-button-oval-small-01.png"></img></a>

Hmm, that ought to work.

Can you describe to me what you see in your profile page? i.e. do you see the graphic at all? And if there is code being displayed, what that code is?

That should help to resolve it.

If I knew how to take a screen shot, I'd do that but it looks exactly like the code that was copied and pasted but all it's parts can be clicked on, not that they go anywhere. I appreciate your help Harvey!!!

@chynared21: I would suggest trying this:

- In MySpace, go into Edit Profile again
- clear out the "code" from the Books section
- Select the code for the banner that you want from the top post of this thread - and double-check to ensure that no characters are accidentally left off when you select the code.
- Paste that into the Books section on MySpace
- Then do the usual saving of the changes, and see if that works.

My guess is that maybe a character got cut off when you did the copy/paste...? It's worth a try. If that doesn't work, we can try to get a screenshot of it.

Okay. Which banner are you trying to paste - large oval, small oval, large rectangle, or small rectangle?

We'll get this figured out!

Ok, very strange. I tried it again and saw that a whole bunch of extra code added itself to the beginning of your code...I copied and pasted. When I previewed, it looked fine but when I went to my page again it showed only the code with the added extra bits. I went back in to edit and deleted the extra stuff up until your code. When I previewed, that section came up blank but when I went into my page...it stretched out my page that a rather large scroll bar appeared (btw, I hate scroll bars).

Could it possibly be that it's not compatible with the background I'm using??? Twice I've copied and pasted and each time that extra bit of code showed up. I'm baffled. And with this I think I become a Sr. Member...though I would have preferred discussion posts instead of trying to figure all this out...lol.

That added code is actually inserted by MySpace. It probably looks something like this:

<a href="http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3LmtpbmRsZWJvYXJkcy5jb20="><img src="http://www.kindleboards.com/graphics/kindleboards-button-oval-small-01.png" /><img /></a>

It should still be okay with that myspace code. It causes a warning page to come up when the banner is linked to, but it does allow you to click through to KindleBoards.

Let's try a screenshot next - if you're still up to this! I appreciate you bearing with it.

To make a screenshot:

1.          * Windows Users: Find and press the "Print Screen" key on the keyboard. It is usually labeled PrtScrn. This will copy an image of the screen into the Windows clipboard. Alternatively, you may use our free Screenshot Pilot software.

          * Macintosh Users (OS X): Press Command-Shift-3. This will capture an image of the screen and save it to your hard drive. Look for a file named Picture 1 (the number may change if you already have images saved in this manner).

2. Open a graphics editing program (for example, Microsoft Paint or Paint Shop Pro).

3. Paste the image into the editor. This is most often done by using the menu Edit | Paste command or by pressing Ctrl+V. (For Mac users: open the saved image file.)

4. Save the image in JPG, GIF or PNG format.

5. Check the size of the file you've just saved. If it is too large (more than 1 Mb), try adjusting the compression settings or crop only the necessary area of the screenshot, then save again.

Then you can upload it to Photobucket and post an IMG link to it here.

Note: I do have to be away from my PC for a few hours, and will be back online later this evening.

Thanks, I hope this has not been too unduly frustrating.

Do you know if this can be on Facebook as well? I tried in my info section under Favorite Books, but it just shows as code.
