Wondering if borrowing an e-book from my local library is possible?  If so, how do I go about accomplishing this.

As of now, I believe most library e-books are distributed with a DRM and/or file-type which is not compatible with the Kindle.

Not with the Kindle.... If you want to get library ebooks, your PC, a nook, or a Sony are your best options.
