I'm new to all this . . .

So my friend and I just got Kindles and are trying to figure out if there is a way to share books.  Let me point out that neither one of us is willing to do anything that is illegal or unethical.

We had this idea and so we called Kindle support.  Our idea is that one of us would deregister our Kindle, reregister on the other person's account, download her books, and then go back to our own account.  We explained this scenario to customer service.  She said it was OK.  We kind of did not believe this and so asked the question several times in several ways, and she kept saying it was OK.

Has anyone heard of this?  Does anyone do it?

OR. . . .you could just set up one account and register both Kindles to it.  Buy gift certificates to fund the account.  If you're each pretty likely to read just about any book bought, and you trust each other to pay the other back for anything one of you buys that the other won't read, it's probably going to be easier than the register/deregister process.

My brother shares my account.  He's given me GC's which I apply and I keep track of how much he's used for books he wants.  When he gets low I let him know and he sends me another GC. . . .works great; he doesn't have to log into my account -- though I could give him my credentials so he could browse via computer.  But he's happy with doing it via Kindle. . .he'll browse with his own amazon account and then go to the Kindle to buy something if he wants it.
