My first time on this thread...
Congratulations on Moderating the 'accessories' Betsy, you are doing a Splendid job.
Your quilts are Beautiful. What talent you have (and patience) to put those together. I love them.
I tried a 9 piece quilt...yikes...it was a kitty blanket when I finished. My hat goes off to you and your workmanship. (or since it's men vs women, would that be workwomanship?)
You should see some of my early works!!! I've made some real doozies. But thanks for the kind words on the quilts and the Moderation. You can say artisanship, artistry, craft, expertise, know-how*, skill, skillfulness, technique, genius (LOL!) Betsy

Well, duh. I finally took a few moments to check out your web site and see some of your quilts. Betsy, they are drop dead gorgeous. Do you think you could be coaxed into doing a show up North sometime? Our local university has an art gallery that would love to display your work....there is a very active quilting community up here too. The gallery's schedule is set a year in advance so there would be plenty of time for you to think about this. Wow. Beautiful, beautiful quilts.

Betsy- your quilts are wonderful. My grandmother made quilts for all of her grandchildren- 1 when we made our confirmation and 1 when we got married or soon after we graduated high school. She was getting older and it was harder for her to quilt so she didn't wait until we got married in some cases. She used to hand quilt most of them- most were appliqued. I am reluctant to use mine anymore since I don't have the skills to rebind or otherwise repair- but I love the quilts she gave me and would be heartbroken to lose them.

Do you think you could be coaxed into doing a show up North sometime? Double Duh! I just had a look at your link & nearly fell from my chair! You are definitely a high quality artist!!! I love the chair quilt and "Mama's Blue Period". It literally echoes my mom, who is severely depressed. Do you do any commissions? Just a thought. To add to another poster's thought, is or are any of your works going to be showing here in the Northwest? Marci

One of the reasons that I quilt is because my grandmother quilted. We have a quilt on the bed that my Aunt pieced, my Gramma quilted and my mother bound. It is a treasure, and does need some repair, for sure! These are really treasures. Be sure to have something written down about the history of the quilts for future generations. Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your quilt story! Betsy

Betsy, you must have given up your quilting with your new "job". My cousin is a quilter and when Hurricane Ike destroyed her house that was what she was most concerned about, to heck with the books, but she was able to salvage most of quilts. She actually received my kindle for me and I have been trying to talk her into getting one so she does not have to worry abut DTBs and hurricanes. I think she is weakening. Your website is awesome and your quilts are an absolute work of art.
Thank you for being here.

Hi Betsy, Just joined the group in the last couple of weeks and have enjoyed every minute and have learned tons about Kindling. Your quilts are stunning - I love the quilt with the chair, I did a double take because it is almost photographic. Your talent is absolutely stunning! Thank you for helping to create a wonderful forum for Kindlers!

Thanks so much, Sherri! I based it on a photograph I took, simplifying a few elements. I'm glad you're finding this the great place I think it is, stopped by one day and I never left!
Kindle on!

Hello Betsy,
I will tell you first of all, your quilts and designs blow me away! I visited your website and blog, and I thought everything on there was very impressive. My grandmother quilts, and she tells me it takes her some time, so I am floored that you do so much! I especially like "Japanese Maple Quilt"! I thought it was very artistic.

Hi Betsy, It must be fate that I found this forum. I have my first K2. My 11 yr old son loved it so much we got him one also. The fact that you are a wonderful quilter, and I am a slow beginner is great. Not only is it quilting that we have in common, but I am from Fredericksburg about 35 mi south of you. I am very familiar with your area from times before they built Crystal City!! (I'm dating myself) I have learned a lot from the forum so far. With a moderator that is a VA girl and a quilter, must make it a perfect fit for me.

Thanks so much for the kind words. jtasfa, pomlover, erich and neversleepsawink. I wish I could claim Japanese Maple Leaves but it is by a friend of mine. Love that quilt!
jtasfa, we get to Fredericksburg pretty often, good friends of ours live there. We'll be there next Thursday evening for one of the Great Lives talks at Mary Washington. The Free Lance-Star had a couple of my pictures in it last Saturday (14th) in the Town and Country section. Congratulations on your K2 and on being a quilter, let's talk quilting! There's a quilting thread somewhere in Not Quite Kindle...

Finally getting to this area.. thanks so much for your work moderating.. I do that too and it can be time consuming, but if you love the board, then it really is a labor of love.
And LOVE your quilts! Just amazing.
I was also born in DC. We lived in burbs in two different states, BUT, we moved to Michigan when I was four (by then I knew how to direct people to drive into DC and have been told manytimes that I would tell people to shush because "Mr Lincoln is sleeping". Well, he does look like he's resting his eyse! We moved on to California when I was 13 and I'm definitely a west coast person, but you guys have fireflies!!

Newbie Kindler just stopping by to see who all the admins are...your quilts are beautiful! My grandmother always made quilts when I was growing up and I have 3 of hers still. I even tried it myself once, with my wife, but I only lasted 10 squares since I forced piecing it by hand on her (that's the ONLY way Grandma would do it, so I had to follow suit). She did finish the piecing and I secreted it out 10 years later to have it quilted. It turned out to be really pretty! You may have run into a friend of mine from high school down there in VA...she quilts and shows as well. Carol Fray is her name.
Anyway, thanx for all the time you spend moderating. From all I've seen, you are ALL very helpful!

Hello Besty, Just thought I'd say hello since no one has posted in many moons, and, it said I couldn't edit my profile until I posted in the forum. So, here's my post and good day to you!
