I know this is going to be an unpopular thread with those who did it but I find you guys horribly selfish.  It's like people who stand half in two queues waiting to see which one goes faster. You are creating delays and a bunch of open boxed waste knowing you plan to return one of them. Just commit so the rest of us can get on with it.

I somewhat agree with you, but everyone had the chance to order at the same time, or within a few days before the orders were put on waitlist.  And really, if you are not sure which one will work best for you, well, Amazon allows people to do this so I dont see people as being selfish, but simply doing what they think is the best thing to do, given that this is a new design, and Amazon has never offered only wifi before.  So lots of questions about it I guess.

I have two different models on order, and given the postage costs $32 each to Australia, I am keeping them both.

Amazon does not have the return policy so people can rent one for 30 days. People who did this are planning to keep one they just can't choose a color for Christ's sake. It's also not about who could place an order when. It's about selfish abuse of the spirit of things. Me Me Me is written all over ordering with the intent of returning one. It's hoarding so that YOU don't miss out and in the process you are inconveniencing someone else and driving prices up overall. I just find it slimy and if someone I knew did it I would give them an earful and hope they were ashamed.

It doesn't surprise me however since a lot of people do things like this all the time, or return meals to get them free, or dent a can for a discount...it's all the same poor behavior in my eyes.

I assume you wrote this hoping a bunch of people would cancel so that you can get yours faster?  Selfish much?

You assumed wrong.  I will get one when I get one.  I am not obsessively impatient or neurotic over a color or other such minutiae. People are so impatient and greedy anymore. You are not going to die if you get one on the 28th vs the 27th or whenever it comes.  I am looking forward to it too but I would not abuse the system this way.

I just find such behaviors rude and selfish. Think about how much it costs to deal with all the returns and how this is factored into cost etc. People KNOW this is poor behavior but hey...who cares as long as they get theirs right?

lol, such anger over such a small thing.  Most people that have posted of ordering more than one because they haven't decided yet are also the people that have stated they will cancel one of the orders before they ship.  There really aren't that many that are ordering two and returning one as far as I can see.  Just saying...

First...I am not angry I am annoyed. Second I knew this would happen...people always make excuses for poor behavior.

It is rude and selfish no way around it. I bet there are thousands of people who have done this. That adds up.

I agree with you completely.  I'm not ordering one for a while (I have a K2 and KDX and they work perfectly well), but this all reminds me of people blocking the sidewalks in New York, either walking 5 across or just stopping and taking up the whole sidewalk when people are trying to get by.  If you say excuse me, they don't even hear you because they are so ME ME ME self-absorbed.

Deciding which one to buy is a no brainer.  It's easy.  But, if you don't like the one you bought, send it back.  You have 30 days.  Sure, Amazon is so customer oriented that it allows you to order 10 and send 9 back, but what's the point?

I just can't believe how unreasonable it seems so many people are. I was reading the Amazon forums and there are tons of "I am so angry I bought a Kindle 2 last week and NOBODY told me there was a new one...I demand a free Kindle and a cheesburger" kind of stuff...then those posts are followed up with a flood of supposed "adults" mocking and harassing them. Or stressful debates over the surface temperature of charcoal vs white casings etc. Ordering then canceling..ordering again...canceling again...ordering two...on and on. People are just mental. They have no shame for being rude and unreasonable. And worse yet when called out on it rather than admitting fault they often attack. Ridiculous.

Do you have anything meaningful to add here? I get your point and I kind of agree with the basics of it, but if that is all you have to say then at this point it seems as if you are just here to incite trouble. Not everyone sees the world the same way, and we try to encourge our members to express their opinions, but we discourage attacking the views of others. You are welcome to continue discussing your views, but please try to tone it down. Calling people "rude and unresonable" among other things isn't well tolerated here.

Sorry to the mods if I am stepping on any toes. I just don't want to see fights break out on my beloved boards.

So calling rude and unreasonable people rude and unreasonable offends you?

Strange.  I find your post smug and offensive honestly. Telling me I am "welcome" to my view. Who are you exactly to give me this permission?

You are doing more to incite conflict by posting as you did. Passive aggressive rudeness is still rudeness. You know those people arguing about minutiae I mentioned? They are as bothering as people who try to qualify other people's posts as "not necessary" because they don't like the topic.

I am disappointed that you would take the time to post that and not address the issue of people abusing the system and burdening others.  I am disappointed that you found my post bothering but not said behavior. I am disappointed you took the time to post about "me" but not people who abuse the system.

Maybe this is why so many people behave this way...because they are not shamed or confronted. When it IS brought up people make excuses and divert as you have done.

The only "fight" that could occur is between people who do this unfair and selfish act and those who point it out. Is that really a problem? Are you so PC you refuse to address actual issues? If someone was shoplifting or doing some other such bad thing would you say "oh leave them alone we don't want to cause any ripples?"

I am not cursing at anyone or violating any rules...I am pointing out poor behavior knowing full well their would be disagreements from people who have done this and know it is wrong, or from people who just want to argue.

zgbg - some friendly guidance. The point you make has merit. Perhaps you even have reason to be outraged. But you seem to be here to pick a fight. Please lighten up the tone. Thread locked; let's try again.
