Sorry if this has been covered; I couldn't see it in searching. Did anyone notice the 75 pages of legal information on Settings page 2? (K2)

I don’t see that on my K2. I don’t have a K2i, though.

I've seen that.  Do you have a question or a comment?

I have now noticed it on my K2(us). After scanning through the first 20 pages, I got bored and quit. (It was almost all copyright and licensing statements about all the open-source and off-the-shelf software it uses.)

That's insane. They can't expect anyone to read that so why bother? Smiley

They legally have to bother as most of the software they used requires that the copyright/licensing info be included with the product. I really doubt that they expect anyone to read it all, though someone interested in some specific piece of software that was used might look for something I suppose? (I can't imagine why, unless to verify that the legal stuff for some piece of software they have some stake in was included?)

I'd never seen this before. I hadn't been connected for awhile, so I was wondering if it was a new thing. Ya know how we talk about everything.   Grin

Ah, there it is, not on the Settings page but on the Settings menu under 'legal'. Yikes, don't think I'll be reading that, but if you want to, read it on the DX - it's only 32 pages on there.....  Wink  Grin

It's required by most licences (open-source or not) for the third-party softwares/software components they use/have modified Wink.

And since in most cases, you have to reprint the licence itself in full, it gets pretty large pretty fast Wink.

Traditionally with open source softwares, these are distributed along the software/software sources in a dedicated text file (usually named COPYING), with just a mention of the software used/licence header visible in the program itself (with detailed info on how/where to view the full text of the licence) [or not, depending on the licence in question].
