Is the production of the kindles and shipping them out to customers currently too slow?

This affects demand and supply and allows prices to be bottlenecked; but what is the cost? People rather not waiting three months to get a kindle and rather going to a rival and buy their ebook reader? Amazon offers a unique and different look with the kindle, but I feel the production and shipping out is currently too slow. Nintendo pulled this with the Wii but did not backlog their orders this far, I actually had no problem getting a Wii when I actually wanted one months after it was released.

There is only one factory that makes the e-ink screen used by Kindle, Sony, etc, so part of it may be their production capacity.

Depending on what they announce Monday, maybe the production of a  good quantity of Kindle 2 may have kept it slow.
