I just got my K3 yesterday, and I love it. It worked perfectly right out of the box. The screen is very white with nice black letters. WiFi came right up. I can't stop playing with it.
My only whine is that the screen seems to show my fingerprints and smudges much more clearly than my K2 does. Compared to the advantages of this new model, not a problem. At least I haven't drooled on it yet.

Why would you be putting your fingers on the screen in the first place? I find marks from the occasional accidental touch wipe off very easily, but as I make a point not to touch the screen it isn't really a problem anyway.

I pretty much don't touch the screen . . . .though, of course, it can happen by accident. . . . but a dry eyeglass cloth works well if it needs cleaning.

Put the tiniest dash of water (literally a drop of water) on an eyeglass towel and clean your screen. A cotton ball would work as well.

I probably clean my Kindle screen every three months at most and usually at longer intervals than that. I use a premoistened lens cleaner for my glasses after first cleaning my glasses so it is fairly dry by time I use it on the Kindle. This has worked very well for me.

LOL this was my exact thought.

I picked up the 2-pack screen protector for Kindle and Sony e-readers from Walmart last night and was able to get it on right on the first try. I got it more to protect from accidental scratches than fingerprints. I think it was $5.88, and I don't remember the brand, but it was in the same section where I got the Body Glove Neoprene e-reader sleeve (which the K3 fits nicely into).

I don't have any fingerprints at all on the FRONT of my K3, or on the screen.
My complaint is that the BACK seems to collect fingerprints. If I decide to get a book-style cover and leave it in the cover while reading, that problem will vanish. So, that is probably what I will decide to do. I am still undecided.

Exactly. Mine doesn't have a mark on it but as with my trusty K1, the few marks I noticed over the two year period were easily wiped off. Melissa

This is insane to me. Putting a screen protector on a Kindle is madness. It defeats the whole point of paper-like screen, and introduces more glare. But to each his own, I suppose!

I used one of these on my K2, had no problems installing it bubble-free and it went perfectly edge to edge, the only place I could actually see the edge of the film was at the bottom where it stopped about 1/16th or 1/8th of an inch from the bottom. This is insane to me. Putting a screen protector on a Kindle is madness. It defeats the whole point of paper-like screen, and introduces more glare.

There was zero additional glare with this product. I laid it down half covering the screen prior to installation and then tilted it back and forth under a light to make sure, the glare was identical between the unprotected screen and the film. Other than glare, what else are you claiming that it does to ruin the experience?

Agreed. The WriteRight advertises that it "Reduces screen glare". Since there was already next to no screen glare to begin with I can't confirm if this is true, but I can say that it did not add any glare. For me it does not hamper the reading experience at all and it gives me piece of mind against accidental scratches.

I usually don't touch my screens a bunch. With my new K3, there was the passing it around to friends to ooh and aah and the installation into its new cover. Nothing too intense, but a lot of fingers. I was simply comparing the K3 to the K2 once it is smudged. The K3 is a lot worse, though nothing that toilet paper and a couple of drops of water can't handle.
Upgrading still strikes me as a good move.

Really, my Ipad has plenty of f- prints, but it has a touch ui. No point at all to touch the kindle screen. Anyway, a microfiber cloth cleans all of them.

Because some of us store our Kindles in sleeves rather than in covers? Because other people aren't always as careful when you let them handle your device? Because we're human and imperfect?

Because some of us store our Kindles in sleeves rather than in covers? Same with me. I'm currently using my K3 in the Walmart BodyGlove sleeve and have touch the screen when pulling the Kindle out of the sleeve. I've started to put the Kindle in the sleeve top first so that the keyboard is at the end when taking the Kindle out.

I was just about to suggest the same thing. That's what I do with my K3 when I put it in the sleeve... makes it easy to grab without worry of touching the screen.

When I first got my K2 at Christmas, I bought that screen protector pack at Walmart, and I have to admit I was totally unable to get it on neatly. It seemed just the tiniest fraction too BIG for my screen, not too small... I had to cut a little bit off of one end. Anyway, after MUCH frustration I finally gave up on gettting it on my kindle screen.
I haven't found the screen to be difficult to clean at all, and I keep the k2 in a case all the time, so I guess I don't really need protection anyway. (Justifying my clutziness - lol)

I seem to have finger prints or smudges on my screen, plus a bit of dog snot, wipes off with my finger, a napkin, or a corner of my tshirt just fine.
I bought some screen protectors from amazon and they were HORRIBLE! Shiny and glarey, didn't fit, bubbled, just nasty. The best part was the totally useless, badly translated instructions. We laughed about those far longer than I left the screen saver on.
