Sister Yasmini is wrapped up and on her way to my 22yo nephew in Houghton, Michigan.  (I even told him her name in case he cares)  I love Oncle Julien with all his slim, sharp contrasting newness but, as with my other kindles, I was still sad to let my previous one go.  I'm usually not so attached to electronic devices, but then I usually don't carry most of my electronic everywhere with me.

Just as an aside, my nephew just referred to his girlfriend as 'a lady friend of mine.'  Doesn't that make him a member of my grandmother's generation?

Sounds like the perfect person to take care of Sister Yasmini.....

I know how you feel. I wrapped up my little Gidget and sent her to my niece. She is waiting for her very anxiously. There was a long line at the post office, but I didn't use it as an excuse to keep her for a little longer. At least they are going to someone that really wants them. Smiley

I think we become attached to our Kindles because with each novel we read on them, it's like they are accompanying us on a new and exciting adventure!  Kind of like a favorite and fun traveling companion!!!

May sound silly, but that's how I feel!!!  Smiley

I sent Rafael to my sister.  My nephew (not her son) took it with him on Sunday.  They live close to each other.  It was sad and I was sorry to see Rafael go.  But, my sister lost her Kindle and my husband volunteered to let Rafael go to her rather than him.

It's all good.

My 25-year-old son uses the term "lady friend," so I guess it's back in style.  Every time he says it, I think of Bruce Campbell's character in Burn Notice.

Hope Sister yasmini has a safe trip and enjoys her new home.

I spontaneously gave my K2 to my sister in law this weekend (with Oberon cover and decalgirl skin).  I have to admit that it tugged at my old heartstrings a little.  Smiley  I can't wait until Oberon does the new cover for the K3...i love the feel of the leather.

I feel your pain.  I just wrapped up my gorgeous K2 for shipment myself.  I hope she will love her new home!

Just wanted to say that, if any of you live in total isolation, hermit-like, with no friends or family to donate your K2s to, keep me in mind. Smiley
My husband is always using his, and it's a long time till Xmas.

So sad, but hopefully Sister Yasmini will have a wonderful new adventure ahead of her.

My Kindle now gets to ride to work with my husband. She is getting to see the inside of his laptop bag, the carpool van, and his cafeteria! And has a new view of your living room from the other end of the couch.

My Husband is so funny, keeps telling me what a cool thing it is, how it's so much easier to read, to hold, to find books, he's read nearly half of his first book. Which is quite impressive since he's read MAYBE 10 books in the 24 years we've been married.

I so understand.. I  sold my K2 (unnamed) and it was sad to wrap it up to send away.  I think it just shows how much pleasure we get from them.  In fact,  the  "song" just  played  on TV  as I  was typing  and  I  get all warm inside when I hear it.. "Take Me  Away  With  You , My  Love"....

Me, too!! I just loved my K2 with the Van Gogh Irises skin. Shipped her to her new home yesterday. But I'm already in love with K3 and the Windows skin.

Sister Yasmini arrived at Michigan Tech Thursday but my nephew didn't tell me he got until last night (to be fair, a 48hour delay for a thankyou is pretty good for a college boy.)  I didn't mention before I shipped that he was getting a cover and light as well as her wood-grain skin.   He's happy, so hurray!   Smiley

You're so nice, Geoffrey! I'm sure he will love Sister Yasminin at college! A few weeks ago we sent our daughter off to college for the first time with her refurbished K2 and she is loving it! She was so depressed when she found out there were no good libraries close to her at college, so I just had to pick up a refurbished K2 back when they were $109..well worth the money already! If you aren't his favorite uncle already...you will be!

I told him where the name came from and even left a copy of the book on the home page.  Now I'm a little curious if he'll read it, keep the name, rename her ... or combinations.  He's a good enough geek to appreciate naming one's electronics but he may be too much of a guy to name them after chicks ....
