I don't know how many of you know about this site, but I have a bit of a vested interest, so I'm going to promote it: http://www.kindlecheapreads.com. This month they are spotlighting a new Indie Author every day, and I'm their first! Check it out. I think it's a site worth supporting, especially if they continue to promote Indies. The lady who I was working with on this was very nice and helpful.

I had contacted them a while back too, and I'm up Sept. 17th. Be sure and let us know how much action you see today, sort of like with KND.

If I remember correctly, I'm going the day after you, Jason. David Dalglish p.s. Your name is Jason, right? I just pulled that out of memory, but now I'm worried I'm an idiot calling you by a wrong name.

lol you got it. Jason all the way. That's great a few of us are on board with this thing. I wonder how their audience compares in size to KND.

J.M., at the bottom of the home page there is a link call, "Your Two Cents" (or something similar). It opens up a contact form.

I've been tweeting and FBing it up today. Mentioned the site on the Kindle FB page yesterday and today. I'll be sure to keep it up every day for all the Indies this month.

My sales are up nicely today from the last few days, so I think this was a successful gig. There's nothing like free advertising! And thanks for leaving the comment Linda! I'll be sure to stop by when everyone else is up too.

What did you say to them to get them to post you? I'm too chicken to ask ...

I simply asked if they would be interested in reviewing/featuring FT and then gave them the link to the Amazon kindle page. That's it! Go for it!

Well I jumped out of my comfort zone and I sent a request ... fingers crossed they'll say 'sure'. Thank you for the encouragement!

I looked at the site awhile back, but there was something about the books having to be fairly clean, as far as violence/swearing goes. While I don't consider my book to have much of either, there is some, so I didn't think it would be accepted there.

Don't worry about that, Mary. There isn't a TON of swearing in mine, but there's enough that one of my Amazon reviewers complained about it, so if I were you, I'd go ahead and email them.

I got denied. They want at least five substantive reviews. I got denied too; I guess my 5 reviews weren't good enough. They also said my book (eBook) had to be less than $5, which it is, it's $.99. Oh well ... maybe some other time

Kindle Cheap Reads is a nice website, getting better every month. It's become one of the sites I rely on to find good books for my K2.
I think that it's great that the site is highlighting indie authors this month.

Hi, All -
This is the voice of Kindle Cheap Reads. You would be amazed (then again, maybe not) at the number of requests for inclusion on our site that I have received within the last 48 hours. Just like many of you, I work a daytime job to pay the bills and have the website as a sideline. A sideline that requires a bit of work to find the books, prepare the posts, confirm the prices are still good the day of the posts, replace a post if the price increases, think of creative ways to keep people coming back to the site, implement those creative ways, and then be responsive to everything that flows to the website via comments or through the form available.
I'm not complaining, but wanted to share my perspective. Now all of that was said to say this: I did prepare a canned response to the indie requests I have been receiving. Sheer volume made it necessary. That doesn't mean an automatic reject. It means that all the authors for September are in place and as a courtesy to those authors we have chosen, we will not post any other indies in September. We may do this promo again in another month. And I've got a folder of e-mails from authors to start my search for that promotion.
I did want to respond to a comment about language. The sentences on the site about us are this: You won’t find certain books on our website. If there’s a warning about violence, language, sexual content, or anything of that nature, the price doesn’t matter. We choose not to put those books on our website.
Specifically, if a book has a warning, we will not post the book. As an example, we do not include books offered free by Sanheim Publishing or other erotica publishers.
Our site needs books to be successful, so please keep writing the books. You are more than welcome to submit a comment through the website and I’ll be as responsive as I can be. Those who provide direct links to their books get my appreciation. Those who just put in the title and make me look for it, get a grimace.
You might want to catch the e-Ramble I wrote today about our site, too. We are keeping it Kindle and not trying to go beyond that focused mission. We feel that will keep us great at what we are doing, will keep our site users engaged, and will keep the books flying off the digital shelves.
Wishing all of us much success and I appreciate all the promotion that you give to the site.
--Paula

I'm glad you found us in here, Paula. This is definitely where the cat got let out of the bag. In case you couldn't tell from the wave of emails, you're providing a very valuable service to us, and we greatly appreciate it. I hope you find that the benefits to your site are just as great!
