Hi, All -
This is the voice of Kindle Cheap Reads. You would be amazed (then again, maybe not) at the number of requests for inclusion on our site that I have received within the last 48 hours. Just like many of you, I work a daytime job to pay the bills and have the website as a sideline. A sideline that requires a bit of work to find the books, prepare the posts, confirm the prices are still good the day of the posts, replace a post if the price increases, think of creative ways to keep people coming back to the site, implement those creative ways, and then be responsive to everything that flows to the website via comments or through the form available.
I'm not complaining, but wanted to share my perspective. Now all of that was said to say this: I did prepare a canned response to the indie requests I have been receiving. Sheer volume made it necessary. That doesn't mean an automatic reject. It means that all the authors for September are in place and as a courtesy to those authors we have chosen, we will not post any other indies in September. We may do this promo again in another month. And I've got a folder of e-mails from authors to start my search for that promotion.
I did want to respond to a comment about language. The sentences on the site about us are this: You won’t find certain books on our website. If there’s a warning about violence, language, sexual content, or anything of that nature, the price doesn’t matter. We choose not to put those books on our website.
Specifically, if a book has a warning, we will not post the book. As an example, we do not include books offered free by Sanheim Publishing or other erotica publishers.
Our site needs books to be successful, so please keep writing the books. You are more than welcome to submit a comment through the website and I’ll be as responsive as I can be. Those who provide direct links to their books get my appreciation. Those who just put in the title and make me look for it, get a grimace.
You might want to catch the e-Ramble I wrote today about our site, too. We are keeping it Kindle and not trying to go beyond that focused mission. We feel that will keep us great at what we are doing, will keep our site users engaged, and will keep the books flying off the digital shelves.
Wishing all of us much success and I appreciate all the promotion that you give to the site.
