First, you need to upload your picture to somewhere where our forum can access it.

You can do this on your own webserver if you wish, but the better method is to create a free account at www.photobucket.com, and upload it there.

Once it's uploaded, you can insert it into your post by clicking the "insert image" icon in the post's "Add BBC tags" section, and then entering the URL of your uploaded photobucket picture inbetween the img and /img tags.

Or even easier, you can use the "IMG code" that photobucket provides, and copy/paste that into your post.

Click "preview" to verify that your picture has been included properly in your post.

It's easy - - give it a try!

For Kodak galleries, you can get the pictures URL by right click mouse, then go to "properties" and grab the URL.  Then insert as already explained.  I did it so yes, even a caveman can do it!

I love Photobucket. Smiley

There are other image hosting sites out there, but none is better.  For instance, Imageshack allows you to post thumbnails of your actual picture on a web forum, which people can click on to see the full picture.  Nice feature, yes?  But the Imageshack server goes down about once a month, making your pic completely inaccessible.

Photobucket is secure, operational, easy-to-use, hosts almost all video and picture formats, now offers on-site picture editing.... and is FREE!  It is simply the single best way to store pictures and videos on the Web.

At first Ford had formed a theory to account for this strange behavior. If human beings don't keep exercising their lips, he thought, their mouths probably seize up.
After a few months' consideration and observation he abandoned this theory in favor of a new one. If they don't keep on exercising their lips, he thought, their brains start working.

Bumping this for Al (Brassman).

Al, like others have said, I highly recommend Photobucket. You can set up a free account and it gives you a place to store all the pictures you want.

I am trying to add photos to one of the threads.  I created a photobucket account and uploaded the photos.  I found the image tag and copied and pasted into a reply.  But when I preview it, the photo is very large.  There are no sizes shown in the tag.  Here is the text of the tag.
http://i965.photobucket.com/albums/ae139/kaalc00/Kitties/Tuxedo/tuxedo-20090818-1153.jpg

Can someone tell me what to add the make the photo smaller?

You insert the following after the first image tag: width=200 (200 being an arbitrary number, you can choose whatever size you like).

So, your link would look like this:

[ img width=200]http://i965.photobucket.com/albums/ae139/kaalc00/Kitties/Tuxedo/tuxedo-20090818-1153.jpg[ /img]

(You would remove the spaces at the start of each tag, they are only there so you can see how it looks)

Resulting in:

another suggestion is to use the resize edit feature in photobucket and save a smaller version and use that one as your link.

Thanks both of you.  I kept seeing the width=200 as an answer but I didn't know what to do with it.  And since I just started the PhotoBucket thingy, it didn't occur to me to look for a way to resize once the photos were there.

No problem.  I can never remember the width thing, so I re-size my photos on photobucket.  One thing though, save a copy BEFORE resizing, or you'll only have the small one in your photobucket account and that can cause it to be weird in other places.

I made a flickr account this morning.  Does it work as well as photobucket, or do I need to cancel it and use photobucket.
I've tried to follow the directions and put the URL into the img tags, but keep getting the x.  I'm sure it's something simple.  Any hints?

^ Deb, go ahead and attempt to post a picture in this thread, and I'll take a look at your post. Should be able to resolve it very quickly with a look at that.

The look of it should be something like this:

Harvey, I think it was the flickr account that gave me problems.  I went to Photobucket and it worked great.
Thank you.

I don't think you copied the entire code for your picture. This is what I found when I went to your album. In the code under each picture, I changed the first [ to a{  so that you could see the code. When you post, change it back To change sizes of the pictures, put in{img height=125]

Ralph, this is what you posted:

This is what it ought to look like:

Thanks for the instructions you sent me on your message on how to add photos on my signature. Because the first posts I made, I added the photos to my post/reply itself. I already updated my signature in my profile. Smiley
