Welcome tabs!
You may register an unlimited number of devices to the same Amazon account.
Most books have a 'device' limit of 6. This means that the book can only be on, at most, 6 devices at a time. But once you take it off one, that 'license' is restored. Note that the limit for some books is lower than 6, and for some it is unlimited.
Periodicals can only go to 1 device. . . .so if you want to read the Washington Post on two different Kindles every morning, you'll need two subscriptions.
So Two Kindles won't be a problem for Amazon or sharing books. It
might be a problem 'cause it seems there are 3 of you! Many of us have found that sharing 1 Kindle between 2 people just doesn't work as an ongoing practice. . . . .if you both decide you really like the Kindle, you'll probably realize you each need your own!
