My copy of An Echo in the Bone has passages highlighted already. I don't remember seeing this on any of the previous Outlander books, or any other Kindle books that I can remember.

I feel like I got a used book, LOL.

Perfectly normal.  One of the newer features of the K2 and the K3 is 'popular highlights'.  It comes 'on' by default so if you pick up a book to read in which others have highlighted and shared passages, you'll see that in the book.

You can turn it off by going, from the home page to menu/settings/popular highlights.  It's on the 2nd page of the settings for me.  It will say "turn off".  Click that and you'll turn 'em off, and then it'll change to "turn on".

Note this is NOT the same thing as annotations backup. . . . . .with that, anything you note or mark will be backed up for you at Amazon.  Highlights may be anonymously shared.

Thanks. I wonder why the other books in the series didn't show highlights. Hmmm.

Probably because no one had highlighted anything in them.

Or maybe you read them before the 'popular highlights' feature was available -- before the 2.5.x update on the K2.

Or you read them on a K1 which didn't have any way to show 'em.

Or it was turned off before but you did something that accidentally turned it on.

Lots of possible reasons!  Cheesy

Also, I think there is some (albeit small) minimum before the highlights are considered "popular"

You obviously must be ahead of my progress in these books, because these are the only books I've ever highlighted, but I highlighted a LOT in them!  I'm reading other books now, but I still go to those passages and re-read them about once a week.  sigh....
