Over the weekend, my wife and I trekked up to the Grand Canyon to do a little hiking. On Saturday, we went down the Kaibob trail to Skeleton point, and then back up. Fast. It was fun but it kicked my butt! On Sunday, we made plans to take another hike of similar length (~6 miles), but on a significantly more difficult trail (Hermit's Rest). As we were loading our packs, I decided that maybe a little siesta in the middle of the hike would be a good idea - a chance to recover before the arduous trip back up to the rim. So.. Here I am right around the halfway point, about to finish up "The Strain" by Chuck Hogan.

Wow. That picture is amazing! I can't remember where I saw a contest for unusual 'Kindling' pictures. This would be a great entry. Perhaps it was on Amazon Kindle's Facebook page??? Someone here will remember.

What a gorgeous view! So did you finish your book? I think I would have been terrified that I would have dropped by Kindle.

I think I would have been terrified that I would have dropped by Kindle. Same here, I was just about to post that. I would have had it in one of those cases that ties it to your neck!

Now that is a stunning picture! The Grand Canyon is truly one of nature's beauties. And, it looks like a great place to go Kindling.

Garmin Forerunner 205? I've been using one for my running for four years. Still not happy with any of its successors.

I did finish the book (The Strain) - very good read. Started slow and built into quite a good Vamp novel.
And yes ken.w - that is a Garmin FR 205. I love it. I had a 305 and wore it out. I looked at the 405 as a replacement, but my wife wasn't using her 205 much, so I sort of adopted it. I never used the HR functionality on the 305 anyway.

Really impressive pic. I flew over the canyon once and was in absolute awe, and that was at 30,000 feet.
Once I receive my kindle ill post pics of my extreme kindling...probably reading at a stop light or something.

Yeah, ya know, as avid a reader as I am, I think I would've been more interested in the view than in reading.... (Yes, I know that wasn't the point of the photo. Cool pic. )

Wow! I, too, would be afraid that I'd drop my Kindle. (I'm afraid I'd be a bit blinded by a naked white Kindle. ) The Grand Canyon is the only place that I've been with my daughters when they said that I was speechless. It is gorgeous there, and I think would be a wonderful place to Kindle. (I'd prefer Kindling on a bench overlooking the breathtaking scenery rather than on a ledge, as you seem to be. You're much more brave than I, and probably much more coordinated.)
