Me and my girlfriend are thinking of getting kindles for several reasons, but one main reason is because of the massive medical reference books we have to lug around with us.

Problem is these books are expensive, so does anyone know if you can get hardcopy books turned into kindle ready ebooks for free? or prove we have them in some way to amazon? or do we have to rebuy for kindle?

Thanks.

You would have to re-buy them, in the event that they do in fact exist in Kindle format.

If having the hard copy ones allows you to access them in .pdf format as well, you can have .pdf format ones coverted to kindle format as well.

However, I suspect most medical books would have enough pictures of anatomy that they may not be too practical to use even if you can get them in kindle format.

If you are going to try this, I would suggest that you get the DX, not the K3.

The DX has a larger screen and would make viewing diagrams easier.
