Phew...Teninx found his tinfoil hat!

Ok...here's a tip that I learned on another forum that I'm a member of...

In the thread about constant clicking for books we'd like on Kindle I posted about Kane and Abel. Instead of posting the copied link from Amazon, I tidied up the clickable link...here's an example for the Mighty Bright Light:

You would click on "insert hyperlink", the globe button. *[url   ][/url   ]*

Instead of inserting the copied link between the bracketed "url"s, you'd do this and keep in mind I'm going to add an extra space for the example and then the way it should look as a clickable.

Example: [  url=http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-XtraFlex2-Kindle-Compatible/dp/B000TXZIDM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225914298&sr=8-1]         [/url]

Between where the copied link would go you'd "rename" or put in whatever you'd like to name it....Might Bright.

Example #2: [   url=http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-XtraFlex2-Kindle-Compatible/dp/B000TXZIDM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225914298&sr=8-1]Might Bright[/url]

That will create a neat looking clickable link...like this :-))

Might Bright

I hope this is clear...maybe someone can figure a better way of posting this info :-)

Thanks, that's way cool. Of course this means that I'll have to try and make every book title a link now Cool

Oh good...you understood all of that!!! It's really easier than it sounds and people will know exactly what they're clicking on :-))

And, you're welcome Smiley

It's called BBcode... Bulletin Board Code. It is relatively standardized, but not all code works with all board software. PHPbb, which is what I use on my board, will not do a lot of the fancier codes, though I can add some additional codes in the administrator control panels with the corresponding HTML code.

Other bulletin board software, like vBulletin, is much more robust with features, but it is very expensive to purchase and update.

By fancier codes, I mean codes that do more than the basic codes....

Like if you use to insert an image, it will insert the image exactly as it appears at the source.

If you use [img=100x100][/img], it will change the dimensions of the image as you see it in the post to 100 pixels by 100 pixels. However, this code does not work on a lot of boards, like this one. I tested it, and it only gives you the code, not the image.

There is a way to do that with this board, but the syntax is slightly different:

Use the "width" option with your IMG tags:

Code:
[img width=100]  [/img]

You can change the width to whatever you want it to be.

BTW, thanks to chynared21 for posting this.

(I've moved it to the Forum Announcements board, which is where we're consolidating our Forum-related tips - as opposed to our Kindle-related tips.

Anytime. Now if I could learn how to post a clickable book cover instead, I'd be thrilled :-)
