What a pitiful experience. I couldn't find the eReaders where they used to be (near the iPods and cell phones), so I asked. "Can you tell me where the Kindles are?" At first she didn't know what they were, so I clarified 'eReaders'. "They're probably in the computer section near the iPads," she replied. I didn't think so, so I started looking.
And looking.
And finally found them. Near the refrigerators! No Kindles for sale, just one lonely sample in the middle of a totaly empty display. It was like the display models at Target - it wasn't interactive, so you couldn't really see what it could do.
Very disappointing! Apparently they did have some, and they all sold. But still...

Near the refrigerators? Sure, people are going to flock over there looking for Kindles.
Sounds like the Best Buy near me! You can look and look and eventually you'll find something way on the other side of the store...

I think that this is Best Buy in general. I found the e-readers near the Wii Fit! equipment section, across from the check-out lines. Reading isn't exactly conducive to vigorous physical activity . . .

I saw a K3 at Staples today across from the checkout lanes.

my Best Buy had a nice display just to the left of the front door. I went there wanting to see the lighted kindle cover. They had em, but all sealed up in boxes.

I noticed also that the eReaders weren't in a 'logical' spot, they were sort-of near the appliances and sort of near the mp3 players. But the display Kindle had run out of battery power, so you couldn't even try it out. And they didn't have any 3G and WiFi in stock, just the Wi-Fi only.

The eReader display at out Best Buy is near the front door just in front of the check out counters. It's a lame display only a Sony Reader and a Kindle WiFi and a few generic non-leather covers. The three sales clerks I spoke with knew nothing about the Kindle and a bare minimum about the Sony.

My Best Buy has the display over near the GPS and the TV's, towards the back of the store. Kindles are on the end-cap of the aisle, with the Nook readers and the Sony readers on the aisle itself. x x x x Nooks x Sonys Kindles

Same here. Took me awhile to find them even though I walked right past them. I don't like them there, can't take the Amazon case out of the box to see what kind of quality it is.

They don't even have any Amazon covers at my BB.

My Best Buy had the Kindle display on an endcap between camera equipment and video games. As others have noted, the battery was dead on the demo model, and the Kindle covers were sealed in boxes -- no sample to touch or examine. The day I was there, both wifi and 3G Kindles were sold out, so I guess they're selling even without a decent display!
