Hi everyone - I am now on my 3d replacement K3, and my DH's 3d replacement should be arriving today. That's 6 kindles within about 6 weeks. My first one had a very wobbly power switch, and the second one had a screen failure. DH's first one was cracked, and the 2d had squeaky edges, where the plastic didn't come together properly. I had a k2 for about 8 months (until it got stolen  Angry) and it never had any kind of problems.

At this point I am thinking that the k3 quality just isn't as good across the board, which may account for the much lower price point. I still think the kindle is the best e-reader of its kind, though, and have no interest in switching, so I'm thinking I'll get a squaretrade warranty, even though so far Amazon has been amazing about sending out replacements whenever I call.

Does anyone have a squaretrade warranty or any previous experience with this company? What do you think?

There's been a lot of discussion about SquareTrade on these boards.  Have you tried the Search function?

Wow. I guess I've been lucky. I've had three Kindles (K1/K2/K3) since they were introduced, and they have all worked flawlessly.

I think I'd characterize it that the folks who have had problem units have been unlucky.

But I guess it's just a matter of perspective. Smiley

Yeah, I'd characterize it that way too. (the lucky v. unlucky bit, I mean!)

And as for not using the search function - sorry, it was a little early yet and I wasn't thinking so clearly. I did look later and saw that there were threads on it, but I couldn't delete this post.

Mines built like a sherman tank, never had a problem with it, i dont think Amazon would skimp on quality and maby its expectations. But i could be (and probably am) wrong.

Maybe it's the old watch issue with newer electronics.  Some people can't wear a wrist watch because of something with their bodies.  If I remember correctly, their watches would be very erratic.  Or is this an urban myth for the Myth Busters?

Thank-you Amazon for the Kindle, I am reading print again after being away from it for 15 years because of decreasing vision.  I never walk out my front door without my Kindle DXG and Fire, they have been both liberating and life changing for me.  Thanks again.  Sincerely, Gene
