I just stumbled on this message thread. If anyone is interested, I set up two daily Bible readings on Feedbooks. These URL's may be entered directly into the Kindle's Web browser. http://www.feedbooks.com/newspaper/7796.mobihttp://www.feedbooks.com/newspaper/3832.mobiThe first is for the KJV, and the second is for the NKJV. They download as Kindle books and the cover page of each has a link to download the next days reading. Woody

I've been wanting to start the One Year Bible, but am wondering which version I will like better...Kindle or actual book version. What version is everyone using? I already have the Bible on my K2, but don't find it quite has handy as my original Bible. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Rita,
Last year I read it on my Kindle but found that I enjoy reading from the actual Bible itself. I had used the OYB previously so I already had the hard copy. I just like having it in my hands and enjoy marking verses and writing notes in it. I think it is a personal decision for each individual.

While I prefer the actual Bible for notes, I prefer reading the one year Bible on my Kindle. The size is less intimidating, and it's perfectly portable.

I prefer reading the One Year Bible on my Kindle. For some reason, the daily reading "seems" to go faster on my Kindle! The only bad thing I notice on my Kindle is that if there is a scripture I want to make a paper note on, I have to page back a lot to find what chapter of the Bible I am reading. I have a notebook that I use for my Bible study and write down scriptures that I find of interest. So reading my OYB reading on the Kindle does slow down that note taking.

Decisions...Decisions! I think I've just about decided to get both versions. That way I can have the book to write in and highlight and the kversion for constant access when I'm at doctor's or therapy. I knew you guys would help me decide! Thanks so much.

I just found this thread. So cool! I just bought a One Year Bible (NLT) for beginning this January of 2011. My current One Year Bible is a chronological DTB. I didn't see a NASB One Year for the Kindle, but if there is one could somebody tell me?
I'm encouraged that all y'all say that reading is easier on the Kindle. I could use it to be easier.

My goal for 2010 was to read the whole Bible. With the help of my NLT Kindle Bible I finished reading it today! It is a big accomplishment for me! Now I will go back and re-read important passages. The Kindle made all the difference for me!

Skyblue, Oh how wonderful to have read the entire Bible!! What an awesome achievement. I have been reading the Bible daily since 1974 and still "see" things I never saw before on a regular basis. I think, Heavens, how could I have missed that so many times!!! But maybe it wasn't the proper time back then for me to truly see & understand that particular scripture.
I can't believe it that pretty soon we will be starting our third year together here as a group doing the One-Year Bible. In a few days I will be getting the 2011 thread going. I hope you will join us! We are truly a family here.

That is wonderful Skyblue! I remember the first year I read it though, it was such a feeling of accomplishment. I was hooked and have been reading a different version every year since 2000. I have read the OYB twice and like Suzi said, not a year passes that I don't learn something new. I enjoyed Max Lucado's Devotional Bible and highly recommend it. Please join us in 2011!

I just saw this and I also have The One Year Bible NLT in DTB. I'd like to join you and set that as my goal for 2011. I'm wondering if I'd enjoy the Kindle version more but for right now I'll stick with the book form since I have it and see how it goes.
Where is the group?

Kindle is the way to go! I was overwhelmed by my DTB Version, but that's me! I loved seeing the percent completed at the bottom and it wasn't even correct! Completed was something like 87 percent! I also liked having my Bible with me even when I traveled so I could read on trains and planes......and automobiles!

We are listed under the Book Club thread. Welcome!
I have read the OYB in hard copy and on my Kindle and enjoyed both.

The bible is the only thing I prefer reading on ipad. I did not like any of the kindle versions for my regular reading and use OliveTree on my ipad. Clean reading, good options for notes and highlighting variety of versions.
If you don't want to pay another option is youversion. They don't have a kindle version, but they do have ipad, iphone, andriod, blackberry, windows, mac, etc. There are 25 different versions of the bible and a ton of reading plans last I looked. I know they just passed their 10 millionth install a month or so ago. They are trying for 10 billions minutes of reading in January.

I'm stealing this from the bargain books thread: This isn't a OYB, but it is a terrific resource for $4.00. What a steal. I love my pbook version of this Bible.

Is this the One Year Bible category I was invited to join by Linda? I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for here I do read from the KJV Bible daily and am nearly finished with a one year intensive study of the Old Testament (teaching it to 17-year-olds with my husband in our Sunday School), but maybe that's a different approach??

Hi Anne & Welcome! This is the One Year Bible Book Klub (with a K because of our "K"indles!) Here is a link to the two Bibles which most of us will probably be reading for 2011. http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,43905.0.htmlI would suggest you download samples of both & you will get a good idea of how those books manage to go through the entire Bible in one year. This will be the third year we have read the Bible together here. Personally, I find it upbuilding to know that my other Kindle friends (actually, we are family here now) are reading the same scriptures each day as I am. Once again, welcome & please post any comments on the readings that come to mind. Suzi

Thanks, Suzi. I followed that link but didn't see any downloads for the two Bibles. Are these not the standard KJV Bibles, then? I'd really prefer to stay with my well-thumbed and well-noted hard copy if that's okay.

Anne, neither of those versions are the King James version. If you still want to read along with us, here is a link to the schedule for the One Year Bible which is the first one in that link: http://www.oneyearbibleimages.com/Bibleln365Days-PrintableSchedule.pdf
