What would you be able to afford each month? Hopefully this is a fun game and not anything that should be taken seriously. Here are a few categories to consider. (You can allot the entire amount of your monthly royalties to each one.)
For dinner? I think I could do pasta everyday, with sauce as long as it wasn't the expensive stuff. Lodgings? In a cheap hostel for most of the month, probably a few nights sleeping on a park bench. Transportation? A used bicycle.
Yeah, it would be a pretty rough life. How about you?

I'm not sure if I'm cheating here or something. What if I already am?

Then I guess you'd have a better idea of what you can afford than anyone else. Care to give us a glimpse into the special edition of "Cribs" with David Dalglish?

I would live under a mushroom and probably eat the mushroom, and after that I wouldn't notice much.

I would take the price, marketing, and distribution of my ebooks much more seriously.

If I could live off of my royalties, I'd love it! Mysterious author who lives somewhere deep in the mountains, here I would come!

Can I move to Romania? I might do good there. Here, I'd be homeless. Probably there, too. What's great, though, is that I did a chart today to see how my sales were doing, and there is a steady climb over the past 6 months. Still horribly low, but I have to have something to smile about, right?

Entertainment? A couple tickets to Universal Studios.
You must be rich! That'd be over $150!

Haha, well I live in Southwest Missouri, so that plays a major role. But I've got my big ol' tv, Netflix, a Wii, two computers (just bought an Alienware Laptop). Dish Network (with Redzone, yeeah!). I have no car payments because I bought it used and paid it off in full. I have no credit card bills. Dell is pretty much the only debt I have. We try not to eat out much (just isn't economical). Lots of pasta and casseroles. I don't ever take vacations (can't afford them). The IRS refund check is still the highlight of the year. Basically, for the longest time my wife and I survived while I was working minimum wage at Pizza Hut. We're talking about $1,000 a month. Last month I made $1400 between Apple and Amazon. This is cake. It may not be superstar status, but I live comfortable, go out to see movies, watch my tv and have my internet and computer and Kindle. My life has been pretty blessed, and I couldn't be happier. Course, this next check is going to blow all previous ones out of the water, crazy Amazon freebie giveaway. David Dalglish

Did you find out definitively if you're getting paid for all those copies? You really hit the jackpot!

As an artist/writer I'm allowed to have Vincent Van Gogh as my role model. I think he sold two paintings in his lifetime (to family members). Of course eventually people appreciated his work. The trouble with posthumous fame is that it is just so posthumous. (Suzanne - are you willing to share that mushroom?)

It's to the point now where even if I don't, I'm already going to have a fantastic month. Not counting free downloads, I've still had over 1000 sales with 13 days to go. If I do get paid for the freebies, I'm on course to make about $4500. Without, $2500. That isn't counting any Apple sales, which is usually about $300-400 a month. Compare that to the measly amount I was making at Pizza Hut? Freaking fortune. David Dalglish

Hmmm ... I'd be with L.C. and my kids would probably have to stay with their grandparents. {Shudder ... I don't like that thought all too much  }
