Actually, Heather, any changes you make to your profile signature appear in all your prior posts immediately! So it doesn't really matter where you post, though this is as good a place as any and better than most. You can even check a past post if you want.

Ok, I went to kindleboards link; the only links I saw on my Amazon book page were email, facebook and twitter. So I manually created a link following the instructions of linkmaker. The link came right up in the preview space. But when I reopen the Amazon page for Resistors, there is still no identifiable link I can copy and paste into a posting...like this one! I know, I know, I'm a Boards idiot. I'm a writer, not a techie. Would help to be both, yup. peter t

Would help to be both, yup. peter t Peter-- I think your confusion may come from a fairly common misunderstanding--there is no connection between KindleBoards and Amazon, other than that, as an Amazon affiliate, we get a tiny percentage every time something is purchased from Amazon based on clicking on a link here. So, if you use Link-Maker to create a link here, you must copy and paste the link code from the box with the code and paste it into a post or your signature here. The links will NOT show up on your Amazon page. Where the Link-Maker says "View on Amazon" it means that you can view the item's listing on Amazon, not the new link-maker code. (Sometimes I use this to make sure I have the correct item.) Let me know if you're still puzzled or if this isn't clear! Betsy

Here is what I did... The larger cover links to Amazon. Avatar links to Kindle Boards Book Profile... http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,64750.msg1243404.html#msg1243404If you look at the layout of the page it is different than most. Recently changed book covers and wanted the KB's promo page to look different. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

When I try to make a link for Leon Chameleon PI and the case of the missing canary eggs it says 'no matches found' yet the name pops up for me to choose from. I also have only 2 characters left, so how do I add another cover? Thanks for your help.

I just used "Leon Chameleon" in the link-maker. . .and both titles in the series came up . . .you don't always have to put the whole title. . .just critical words. . . . .

Although the Amazon search engine takes me to my "Flash Warden and Other Stories" the link in my sig goes to "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead." When I try to make a new link, the kb linkmaker says "no product found." Help.

Linkmaker worked OK for me, you should be able to just copy and paste the below code. Flash Warden and Other Stories

EGranfors,
looks like you got it straightened out with intinst's help!
For future reference, when using link-maker, you can also put in an ASIN (in this case B0057AP3IW) that you've copied from the book's Amazon page, or your author name, to find books. If you put in your author name, all of your books should show up and you can select the one you want to create the link. We recommend copying the ASIN as otherwise errors, including putting the letter "O" in where there should be zeros, is quite common.
Hope this helps! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more problems or questions.
Betsy

I went to the link maker, got a link, but do not know what to do with it or how to put it anywhere. Instructions on what to do after you make a link would be helpful to us stupid ones. Thanks.

Maggy-
You can use a link-maker link lots of places--anywhere you want to have a link to something.
Readers use them to post links to books they've read in the Book Corner.
Authors use them in their Forum Profile Signature (go to Profile in the top menu bar, then select Forum Profile Information on the left side). There is a large version that authors use in their Book Bazaar threads.
Members also use non-book links in Accessories and many of our other boards to provide links to Amazon items of interst, such as coffeemakers, blenders, cameras, backpacks, exercise equipment, etc.
Hope this helps!

Darlene-- You can use them wherever it would be appropriate--in your signature (max height 125 pixels), in your book threads. Outside the Book Bazaar, you can't use links of your own books in the body of your posts, but you can use the links for other items you want to talk about. Hope this helps! Betsy

It didn't work for me. I followed all the steps until I came to 'copy/paste,' then clicked 'select.' Nothing happened. Could this be because I was on the site before under another password and user name which I had to change when the site kept rejecting them after I had my computor repaired, or have I simply forgotten one the steps?

Mac-- You're talking about link-maker? When you click on "select," it puts the cursor in the code box, then you have to "select all" (CTRL-A or CMD-A) or click and drag to select everything in the box. Then do your copy and paste... I admit, I wish "select" actually did something. I think I'll mention it to Harvey. Betsy

Hi, Betsy. Thanks for contacting me. I understand what you mean about pasting, but there is no other box in which to paste the URL. It's some time since I did this, but I'm sure I remember another, larger box which can hold up to six URLs, and which has a character counter underneath. Where did it go?

Mac--
After you copy the code link (use the first image link, the one after the text link), then you need to go to your forum profile. In the top blue menu bar, click on Profile, then select Forum Profile Information on the left, and then scroll down on the web page until you see the Signature box. Paste the code in there, and click on Change Profile near the bottom of the page.
Let me know if you have any problems!
