I attempted to link my book, A Rock by Moon World to my reply to a posting and the new version of link maker said it was not found. I tried the the old version but couldn't figure out what to copy and paste. Help! Best Regards, Harden Taylor

The 2.0 Link Maker is not working because Amazon changed how access is allowed to it's Kindle book database. Here's a link with a video tutorial that Verena made last November on how to use the Link Maker 1.0. . . .Verena, perhaps you can chime in and/or update it. . . . http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,838.0.html

I don't think the link-maker 1.0 has changed at all since I made the tutorial.....
Basically, you need to copy and paste the ASIN number from Amazon into the ASIN field, and then copy and paste the image of the book into the Image URL field. Then click the Create Kindle Boards link button, copy all of the resulting code from the Image Link field (you can click the select link below the field to select all the text, prior to copying), and paste that into your post.
After you have done it a few times, it literally takes seconds to do them. I update links in posts all day long.

Or, if you don't need an image link . . . .just type in the book title in the text link field and do the same select, copy, paste routine.

I have a problem as the link is only showing my paper back books. When I go to Kindle store and enter it says none found. I have 6 kindle books on kindle so cannot figure out why it is none found. All are found usually under my name, or titles. My problem is only here on this board?

Yes, Amazon has restricted the searching of the Kindle Store from external websites. 1. This thread has a workaround you can use for text links: http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,13290.0.html2. Or you can use the old version of Link-Maker ( http://www.kindleboards.com/link/link-maker-1-0.php) to make your links, but it's a bit more tedious. 3. The Kindle Store search box fields at the top of the screen do work, but they just drop you into an Amazon search page; they don't help in terms of making links in your posts.

Ann, here are text and book cover links to your books. Some of them had two versions in the Kindle Store; I went with the lower-priced version in that case. "Memories of a Forgotten Past" Memories of a Forgotten Past (Kindle Edition) "Discoveries of a Hidden Past" DISCOVERIES of a HIDDEN PAST (Kindle Edition) "The Daughters of Nora Crawford" THE DAUGHTERS OF NORA CRAWFORD (Kindle Edition) "Simply Poetry" SIMPLY POETRY a collection of poems (Kindle Edition) "Tales From the Heart" TALES FROM THE HEART (Kindle Edition) "Confession from a Stranger" CONFESSION FROM A STRANGER (Kindle Edition) Here's the code to copy/paste, FYI: "Memories of a Forgotten Past"

Yes, there's a problem with the Linkmaker 2.0. Here's Harvey's explanation earlier in this thread: Hope this helps! Betsy

I've tried about four times to add a link to my book, but nothing happens. When I search for Carl Melcher Goes to Vietman, using this tool, it comes up empty? thanks.

I've been having problems with Linkmaker for a few weeks now with several different titles. The latest was with a book called The Second Virgin Birth which I know is out on Kindle, however, when I hit select I always get a "no matches found" message. Any suggestions? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks, Debra

If you haven't checked out the video tutorial (link posted above) you really should. It is really helpful when you're trying to get the hang of the original linkmaker. Helped me! Meanwhile, here's your book link and if you copy and paste it you can put it in whatever thread you wanted it for. . . .

Hello all, As you may know, our handy Link Maker tool has not been returning search results for Kindle Store books lately. This is due to a change that Amazon made in mid-August about how it makes its database available to programmers. We were hoping this was a temporary glitch, but Amazon representatives made it known to developers this week that this is intentional, and that Kindle Store items will not be returned in search results from websites using web services to retrieve that info. Not sure what the reasoning is, but we're going to have to live with it. So, what should you do when you want to post a bookcover image (or text link) that conveniently links to that book in the Kindle Store? You'll have to use our manual version of Link Maker. It's a little more work but will achieve the same result, without using Amazon's web services. To get to the manual version (e.g. Version 1.0) of Link Maker, you can click here: http://www.kindleboards.com/link/link-maker-1-0.php I've also added a more prominent link to it from the main Link Maker page. http://www.kindleboards.com/link. Note that the main Link Maker tool is still the way to go for making links to most Amazon items, except for Kindle Store books. - Harvey

I used pidgeon's instructions and made a link - my first one!!!! However, when I look at it, all I see is the red x from Windows that won't let me see the picture link. (I can see everyone elses links) Grrrrr. If I click on the red x it does take me to the correct Amazon page.
Can anyone else see my link? And what can I do to fix this?

It looks to me like you did everything right except you copied the image link wrong. What you put in the image URL box was http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0014JQ9DI/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=133140011&s=digital-textwhich is the "link location" in Firefox and you should have had http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-pe3oU7LL._SL500_AA246_PIkin2,BottomRight,-10,34_AA280_SH20_OU01_.jpgwhich is the "image location" in Firefox (right clicking on the image pops up a menu and you can get the "link location" or the "image location." You want the "image location." Betsy

Okay, is there a Making a Picture Link for Dummies here? LOL I tried using the LinkMaker 1.0 (because I'm linking Kindle books) and I couldn't get more than the text link it seemed. But then, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can someone do a ridiculously step-by-step breakdown of how to link a pic of my book covers for my sig? I know some HTML, but BBC code is Greek to me.
Thanks and sorry to be a pain in the arse! -Jenn

Go to your book listing on Amazon through the Kindle Book Finder Search above and copy the ASIN number... Paste it in the Linkmaker 1.0 in the box for the ASIN number. Choose whatever text you want to show in your post... such as the title of your book... Type that in the "link text" box. Go to your Amazon book listing and right click on the image of your book... Choose "Copy Image Location" and paste in the IMG URL box in the Linkmaker. Click on Create KindleBoards Link. Scroll down to see both the text and img links. You can copy and paste either the text or the IMG links, or both, into your post or profile. You can see what the links will look like at the bottom of the LinkMaker page. The Cinderella Curse
