I've ordered a Kindle 3G as a Christmas gift for my wife.

She gave me a Graphite 3G for my birthday in August.  Within two weeks, the lettering on several keys was showing significant wear and I was sent a replacement.   Since I had 30 days to return the first one, she took it with her on our annual week-long vacation at the beach where she and it became fast friends.  She's been talking about getting one for herself ever since.

My husband's grandmother is getting one. I'm also considering giving them to my mother and father in law. Right now, Amazon has a limit 3 you can order, so I guess stock is going down. Crap. Wondering if I should go head and order them...

If the books are purchased from Amazon, they can easily share them if they're all on the same account.

Ann, you have been really nice sharing your ideas in this thread.  I'm going to try and find some public domain books to put on the grand kids' Kindles before Christmas.  That was one of your suggestions.  I guess it will be other than Amazon since they won't be on my account.  I'll start with Feedbooks.  Thanks a Heap!

I just went to manybooks.net.  The have a section called "Young Readers".  What a great selection of books for kids there--all free and in .azw format--or at least I think most are.  I got an error on 1 download, but no bigee.

I'm getting one.  I want to get one for my mom, but she is hemming and hawing on if she wants one-I'm putting money on her buying one once she sees mine.

I bought my mom a Kindle as a thank you gift in September, and bought my stepson one for his birthday. My husband and I decided that we would get one for each other for Christmas, but we couldn't wait, so we got them early. Smiley

My family is all pitching in to get one for my aunt for Christmas, though. My mom and dad are getting the kindle, I am getting the case and my brother is providing a gift card for books.

I just placed my order for a Kindle for my 9 year old daughter. She'll be so excited to have her own. She's also getting the green Amazon cover with the light and a DecalGirl skin (I think it's called moon tree or something)

I keep reading on here and on the Amazon Kindle forum that Amazon is allowing returns on Kindle gifts through Jan 31, but I can't find that stated anywhere on the Amazon website... Can anyone point me to the right place? Thanks!

I asked on the Amazon boards and someone sent me to this link, so yes, it's true (I had a hard time finding it... it's at the very top) http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_901888_howref_kindle?nodeId=200144510&tag=kindleboards-20

I just gave one to my son's girlfriend for her birthday/Christmas present and she's loving it!!  And, my K1 has been "gifted" to my SIL who just had back surgery and won't be going to the library for some time.  She's really enjoying having my K1 and for now, we've just left it on my account.  She has been debating getting a K3 so this will at least help her decide if she wants/likes a Kindle.  I think she's already found out the answer to that now... so we'll see if she wants to keep my K1 or if she wants a K3.  It's so fun to make it possible for others to enjoy the Kindle as much as you do!!

I ordered a white k3 3g for my daughter who is 18-- she has been talking about all of the ebook readers out there, and I hope she is too cheap to buy one for herself!!!  She has the money for it right now so I'm hoping she holds off.  I will call Amazon CS, though-- I didn't say it was a gift, because I intend to let her keep it registered to our amazon account.  So I need to make sure she'll have the extended return time in case she hates it.
