Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

So, after spending the weekend with my new Kindle2 and the Cole Haan bronze woven cover with hinges, here's a mini review with photos:

It's really beautiful.  As you would expect from Cole Haan, it's exceptionally well made- no loose ends or imperfections.  The color (which is hard to see in my photos, as they were taken at night with a flash) is a rich, muted bronze- not really shiny, but definitely metallic.  Neutral with pizzazz.  The weave is not uniform, which gives it some texture, and the inside is a rich tan suede, which feels great.  I'm addicted to woven leather, and this is a lovely piece of work.

I'll admit I was worried about the hinge system, but I didn't see anyone who had a problem with the Cole Haan hinges, and I think now I know why.  The fold is about 3/4 of an inch to the left of the hinges; thus there is no pressure on the Kindle itself.  I hope you can see this from the pictures.  The front and back cover are fairly rigid, which allows it to lie flat when closed, almost eliminating the need for a secure closure (which was a big concern for me.)  The front cover folds completely back, and is very comfortable to hold.  It seems to be a bit less bulky than my Oberons, and feels like it weighs a bit less (this is totally subjective- I did not weigh either one.)  You would have no trouble clipping a Mighty Bright or other light to the cover.

Photos follow.  If there are any questions, please ask.

It's just gorgeous!  Now I am obsessing on how to get one of these.  Ebay only has the other ones but this one is really beautiful.  Enjoy it and I'll just have to be patient....

I received this case in early December and it sells on Amazon for $119.99.  It is a lot of money, but it's beautiful, well constructed, not too heavy.
Love it!!  Definitely a classy cover.

Would an eluminator2 booklight (the one designed to be used with the M-Edge Prodigy case) work with the Cole Haan cover?

I use the M-edge light with this case and just slip it between the cover and my Kindle. It works "ok", but not great as it sometimes slips down if I don't position my finger under the edge of the light.  I think a clip on light might be better in the long run. But reading with the Kindle is such a joy, it doesn't bug me too much  Smiley

This is an excellent, realistic review.  Thank you.  I would like to add a few additional points so you know what to expect if you are converting from the basic amazon cover to the Cole Haan.  I have had my K2 in the amazon cover since day one and just received the CH yesterday.

First, you will notice the CH is larger.  It takes up more space in all dimensions. For example, it is much thicker so do not be surprised if the fit in your bag or purse is different.  In the CH, my kindle does not fit as easy in my purse as it did with the basic amazon cover.

Second, the fold-back is different.  The picture of it folded back is true to life, but note there is more room on the left.  The amazon cover does not leave this room. For me this did not make much of a difference, but anyone with difficulty in the hands may find the extra room makes it harder to reach the left hand keys on the K2.

Third, I noticed the back part of the cover moves or gives more than the amazon cover if you try to open it the wrong way.  So, just take care as this is known to be one of the causes of the cracks by the hinges.
