I pre-ordered a new release and it was delivered to my Kindle just fine, but when I open the book there are small boxes at the start of the paragraphs, and also everywhere there is an apostrophe. So instead of seeing “wasn’t” I see “wasn[ ]t”
I can go ahead and read the book, but it is very annoying. Has anybody had this problem before? Or know how to get rid of the boxes?!  Sad

Contact Kindle CS, and report bad formatting.
Also which book is it? I can sample it, then call them myself about the formatting too.

It is called “Last Sacrifice” by Richalle Mead. This is a popular release and I have been following comments of those who have already read it, but nobody has complained about formatting problems yet. Why would it just start now?

I looked on the Amazon website, but the closest I could get to contacting somebody was an email address. Do you have a phone number? Of course I would like to read my book as soon as possible, and I'm thinking if I talk to sombody on the phone, maybe it will get resolved quicker then through their email system.

Try the email and I bet they will reply. After all they built their business model with online communication.

you can reach a dedicated Kindle representative at 1-866-321-8851.
International customers can reach us at 1-206-266-0927. Charges may apply.

And I downloaded the sample. It's one I would have bought without question too. 3 people on my account read that series, so thanks for the heads up.

This might be a silly question, but when I emailed Amazon from their website....will their response come back to me through the Amazon website, or through my personal email address they have on file?

I find the best way to contact Kindle customer service is to send a message with the 'call me back' option.  .they do call you. . .usually almost immediately.

For poor formatting I'd also suggest providing feedback via the links at the bottom of the book product page. . .that's not personalized, so you wouldn't be able to get your money back or anything, but enough reports and they may pull the book. . . . .

Me too.  In fact, I usually press "enter" for the call back option with one hand, as I dash out the door to grab the phone before it wakes up my night-shift husband.  It rings immediately.
