Thanks Suzanne - that is where it was but guess I didn't read it very well as I got the impression it was lifetime. I know some of the more orthodox have the "curls".

I found it interesting in today's NT reading that when Jesus was tempted by the devil, he quoted scripture to him. He didn't just sit there and argue.
Also, when the devil offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if He would fall down and do an act of worship to him, Jesus didn't refute this and say something to the effect, 'That's not yours to offer.' The world is indeed in the power of the evil one.
Then it said that after the last temptation the devil left him until a more convenient time (or something to that effect). Satan must have known that he wasn't getting anywhere with Jesus and decided, I'll try again later when he seems to be weak or discouraged.

Good points and thoughts to bring up. Reading the OYB has been such a great thing for me. Thanks everyone for their comments. Lynn

Our sermon yesterday revolved around the verses in Numbers where God sent the snakes to bite the Israelites after they complained about having no bread and water. The Pastor brought up that when we compain about our problems to others etc it basically is saying we don't think God is taking care of us the way we think we should be, and could do better ourselves. I guess I kind of knew that but didn't want to really think about it that way. It really made me become more aware of what blessings God has given me that I should be thanking Him for everyday! Thank God he is so forgiving- I know I wouldn't be .I am going to work on thinking more positively (especially at work - that seems to be where I have the most difficulty about negative attitudes about clients and coworkers and stress in general). Anyway I was happy we had just read Numbers and remembered about that part. Hope you all have a good day. Lynn L

It seems to be the human condition to have a tendency to complain & be negative. I know I am truly guilty of that. I am so grateful that God is so forgiving! In my daily prayers, I try to focus on positive things and things I am grateful, as well as laying my problems at the foot of the cross. Another thing I do is after I lay my problems at the foot of the cross, after I say Amen I take them right back and begin worrying about them again!!!

I read my devotion every morning prior to leaving for work. Many afternoons on my commute home I use it to thank God for many blessings. There are so many that I take for granted. I always thank Him for the day upon waking and ask Him to help me to "rejoice and be glad in it." Suzi I think letting go and letting God is very difficult to do, it takes discipline. I used to think it showed a lack of faith on my part but if you are a worrier in general it is a changed behavior that you have to learn. I am much better than I used to be.

There are times when I have to get rather stern with God and demand he remove some of the negative aspects from my mind - and would you believe, He actually does it. But I also, many times every day, thank Him for all blessings, known and unknown, that's before I start my prayer list for those whose health is questionable.
Thanks Lynn for the reminder of the snakes, good point!

I was going to make a updated post regarding my family problems and I saw Anju's post. As some of you know I have been having serious problems with the health of a family member due to severe drug addiction, and my update is that it is worse than ever. He has been in the hospital for the most part of 3 weeks, each time closer to death than the last. I am totally stressed out with anger of "how could someone do this to themselves', but at the same time I know that it is out of my hands and it is part of a bigger plan for us/him. There are many "unknown blessings" to come, regardless of the outcome. Peace to you all- Lettie There are times when I have to get rather stern with God and demand he remove some of the negative aspects from my mind - and would you believe, He actually does it. Lettie - I have had you on my list since your last post, thanks for the update. I know I speak for most of us here when I say that we are all thinking of you and behind you, regardless of what happens. This group has so much amour it is amazing to me. The whole KB group, but this OYB group more so. I am so glad you are a part of us.

Lettie, I will be keeping you & your family in my prayers. This must be so difficult for you to handle & extremely stressful. Addictions to drugs, alcohol, etc. are a sickness, but it is still extremely difficult for close family members to deal with. Please let us know when you have further news, be it good or bad. We love you.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted you all to know that I'm thinking about you and praying for you this evening.
I really enjoyed today's bible reading. I ended up putting my Kindle down to switch to my regular bible so the I could mark some passages. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's reading.
Blessings,
Lynn M

Thanks Lynn! I am also lifting all of you in prayer and there is no way that you can't think of everyone as you do your daily reading, so cool. I have to say I am enjoying Deuteronomy more than numbers. Have a blessed Sabbath!

I have noticed, that the Israelites are now able to consume their sacrifices, or am I reading this all wrong?
Then there was the comment about 70+ originally in Egypt and they left with over 600,000 WOW!
And then there is such a belligerent and war like Lord - it makes me so thankful that he sent his Son to us.
I too am praying each night, at the least, for all of us because even though he sent his Son to save us we need to help Him all we can and acknowledge His love.
