I bought a black decal girl matte skin (just want a cover, no pattern as I find it distracting). The matte seemed to have NO grip and the edges when on the kindle were rough. A friend has the glossy and it feels smoother and has a little more grip - which will increase the odds that I wont drop it! I also have the M Edge convertible cover and love it! Questions - Have you found the glossy to be a little stickier (in a good way) than the matte? Which shows finger prints less - black or white gloss? Which has less reflection when reading with a light at night - black or white gloss? Thanks!~!!

I have purchased 2 skins, one currently on my K2 is glossy and I have loved it, although it has a design on it so I can't answer about markings on a black or white glossy. The second one is for my K3 and it is on it's way right now, should be here in a day or two and its glossy as well with a design. I've had no issue with the one on my K2. Sorry I can not help you with any questions on the matte.

My first skin on my K2 was glossy. I found it more slippery, especially during warm weather when you have more oil rising to the top of your fingertips. I also found the shiny surface a little too reflective and distracting at times. Or maybe it was that the skin itself was so pretty it was distracting!
I have a matte skin now on my K3, and so far, so good.

I had a few different skins on my K2 (none on my K3), and I found I liked the way the DecalGirl matte finish felt better than any of the glossy ones. I felt that more than compensated for the very slight loss in visual detail.

Although I find the glossy skins to be beautiful, I prefer the matte finish for the same reasons that ClickNextPage and NogDog have given.

Ditto what ClickNextPage, NogDog and Cindy416 said. Matte over glossy for me.

Ditto the rest. Matte for me.
I bought 3 skins in glossy total for my Kindle 2, and decided to try the Matte for my K3, and now will never ever go back to the glossy. The glare sucks, the fingerprints suck, and the feel is sooo much nicer on the matte than the glossy.

I chose matte. It's beautiful, but I think it has less grip than the naked Kindle with its slightly rubberized back. I'm not sure if rubberized is the right word, but I really like the texture of the back of the Kindle 3.

Wow--I'm glad I read this thread. I was thinking of getting a skin for my Kindle 2 and had been leaning toward the glossy because of the look. But now that I read this, I think you may be right about Matte and the feel. I can definitely see how that would be the case. I have a glossy decalgirl decal on my laptop and it's slick. That's why I was holding off put a skin on my Kindle--I wasn't sure that's the "feel" I wanted when I held it.
But matte might work nicely. Thanks!
