This is a dumb question, but...
I haven't traveled since I got my Kindle but I have a trip coming up.

Is the Kindle considered to be like a computer, i.e. you need to take it out of any cover you have and place it separately in a basket so it can be scanned? Or is it considered like a cell phone that you can leave in your purse?

Thanks...

I have travelled with mine and left it in my purse, no problem.  They didn't ask me to take it out or anything.  Will be travelling shortly internationally and we'll see if its the same, I imagine it is. Smiley

Yes--please do let me know your experiences.
My first trip is domestic, but I also plan an international trip soon, so I'd love to know your experiences.
Also, do you intend to take a converter with you in order to recharge your Kindle?

I'd like to know what experiences you have with that, as well.

I have travelled domesticly and internationally with my Kindle. It is not considered a computer and you do not have to take it out of your bag. I would suggest that you make sure that the 3G/Wifi is off when you send it through the scanner. Other then that it is not a big deal.

I've travelled within Europe (UK to Germany and back) a few times.

The first time I put it in the same tray as my laptop. Rest of the time I left it in my rucksack.

Neither was commented on.

Have had it in sleep mode, off and on, and again have not noticed any difference.

Turned it off during take off and landing, although have heard others say they've left it on without problem.

It is akin to traveling with a cell phone or MP3 player; no big deal.  Smiley

Flew to Australia with my K1 recently... left it in my backpack with no comments from the TSA... my "junk" got more closely inspected than my electronic devices.  Shocked
