After giving up my Kindle 1 a year ago...I'm now looking at getting back in by getting a Kindle 3.  I want a white K3, and thought of buying it from Best Buy (instant gratification  Grin), but every single Best Buy within a 50 mile radius doesn't have them in stock!  This is for either the white or graphite version, and for either 3G/WiFi or WiFi only.  Is there a massive shortage of these??

Wow!  I'm surprised that they're already sold out at your Best Buy store.  But if it's the only one within 50 miles, maybe that's where everybody goes to buy their Kindles! Smiley

You can also buy a Kindle at Target and Staples. Is there one of those that's closer to your town?

I just checked, and Amazon.com still shows the Kindle as "in stock" (for both models -- WiFi-only and the 3G + WiFi version). Earlier this month the 3G version was listed with a warning that it would ship "in 8 to 9 days," but today they seem to have plenty of Kindles. So in a pinch, you could always try ordering your Kindle online.  For a little extra money, Amazon will even deliver it overnight...

Target and Staples have them??  OK, didn't know that..I'll check there.

As for Best Buy, I called 3 of them.  One said tomorrow and the others don't know when they will get it back in stock.

I just purchased mine at Target yesterday.  Target.com allows store inventory to be checked online.

I checked with my local Target stores and the closest store that had the WiFi/3G in stock was about 40 miles away. I ordered from Amazon, signed up for Prime (which I will cancel before the 30 days) and that gives you free 2-day shipping. It also let me upgrade to overnight shipping for $3.99. So I got my Kindle shipped overnight for just $3.99. Had it early the next morning. I can't drive to the store for that plus I didn't have to pay the state tax.

But I absolutely love my new Kindle.
