Combining two accounts for 30 days?

I am having trouble sorting out all the options for combining accounts vs. share etc.  I want to share my books with my nephew, but we both like to keep our own accounts.  From what I've read, the quickest and easiest solution is for him to go on my account, I transfer books to his Kindle and when I'm done we can de-register the account and he has his own account again.  My questions:  1)  Is this legal as far as Amazon is concerned and 2)  Does he keep the books he bought before the accounts were merged after he returns to his own account?

Only thing is he can't delete the books or he loses access to them. They aren't actually tied to his account but the Kindle.

The answer to #2 is definitely yes, but I thought that the answer to #1 was no.  I don't think it's consistent with the Amazon TOS to register to someone else's account for the purposes of "sharing" their books, and then deregister and register back to your own account.  Whether you'd be "caught" is another question, but I think it's technically not legal.  Before I go back and actually search through the TOS, does anyone have the definitive answer at their fingertips?

Correct.  If they came from your account and he deletes them from his kindle they will not be archived in his account.  To get them again you would have to reconnect his kindle to your account and redownload them.

I don't know if this is explicitly addressed in the TOS, but it certainly is contrary to the spirit.  The multiple devices on one account feature is to allow multiple platforms (your Kindle, your phone, your PC - all running a Kindle app) and to allow those that live together to share books as you would physical books.

There is a sliminess factor to doing what is proposed above that makes my skin crawl.

Of course, your sliminess meter may well be calibrated differently than mine.

#1 is fine. it allows many people to share books on a normal account, and then they have private accounts for things they don't want to share. Such as families with teens/preteens on an account, and mom has a separate account for the books she doesn't want the kids reading. We have many KB members who do this for just this reason.

This strikes me as perfectly fine.  The simile is a family in the same home - with some books kept out of the kids' reach.

The OP however appears to be asking about adults with their own accounts registering a Kindle on the other's accounts for the purpose of taking books and then unregistering, keeping the books ("I want to share my books with my nephew, but we both like to keep our own accounts.")  I may be misunderstanding however.
