So far most of my sales have been through Smashwords and that largely due to it's coupon feature. I've barely sold anything on Amazon at all and I went through Smashwords to get to B&N and the iBook store, neither of which have actually gone through yet. I'm not fond of Smashwords meatgrinder either, so with the next book I'll be looking for different routes to get to the same markets but I'll definitely be keeping something in the Smashwords store as well - since it is by far my biggest success at the moment.

From reading all these threads, I am not sure if smashwords is worth the time to join them. But I just did. So far kindle and nook are the two top contenders for ebook selling.  There may be more, but I don't know them. Good luck everyone.

There won't be long list.  But I am sure, some of the authors will be on platforms not too common.  But if no one knows, then those platforms may not be worth.

Share with us people, if you know any good ebook sale platforms like amazon and BN. Thanks and all the best everyone.

I sell better on Amazon than anywhere else, although B&N just recently picked up for me.

If you're selling on amazon, believe me you will sell on BN.  If not, then I really need to know the trick that sells books on amazon [that BN can't sell].
All the best.

I am just curious: Why do you think BN through smashwords works better than direct publishing with BN?  Thanks and all the best.

oh, that's easy. I'm a Canuck and we can't publish through BN unless it comes through Smashwords, or I'd be all OVER pubit!

Thanks Matt. I got it. I like to see BN expanding at least to UK and Canada soon.  How about Amazon! They sell in Canada but don't seem to report separate like UK. Am I right?

I can't say I have ever heard the term canuck except in comics from the 70s and early 80s.  But I live a sheltered life.

I'm not quite sure how Kindle sales work in Canada, but I believe they generally just get lumped in with the US sales, ALTHOUGH at the old 33%.   Don't hold me to that though.

You seem right, Matt.  That explains those 35% for some of the sales.  I was just wondering about those.  Because all my books are signed for 70% royalty. Thanks.

I believe fiction in general do better at amazon.  I am nonfiction and seem to be one of the few who is doing better at BN.  This is the only explanation I can think of.  I cannot think any other reason.

actually, now a canadian sale registers at 70% just like a us sale, which is nice except I can't see where the reader is coming from. that was always a sure fire way to tell.

Then the 35% I was guessing as Canadian sales may from some other country. Because google does provide in which country the book is sold with few exceptions such as UK.

Definitely amazon.
No surprise here, except my sales.  I have just the opposite. I sell more books at BN than Amazon.

No body has explained the reason. My guess is fiction sells better with amazon and nonfiction sells better with BN.
