Is there a way on the Kindle to easily indicate / display those books that are completed, in progress, etc?

I have 50+ and as I complete them, it would be nice if they had a check mark next to the title or different font, etc.

If you look at the home page (or listing of books in a Collection), there are dots underneath each title.  As you read a book, those dots turn darker.  So if you're part way through a book, the dots are dark part way; if you've finished the book, those dots are dark all the way to the end; if you haven't started the book at all, the dots remain lighter.

That's about the only immediate visual method there is to know the read/unread status, without having a Read or Unread collection.

I have created a collection entitled simply "Read." As soon as I finish a book, I move it to that collection. I also have collections entitled "Currently Reading," "To Be Read Soon," "Try Again," and "Couldn't Finish." (The "Try Again" collection contains those books that I think I should like but had difficulty getting into), and the "Couldn't Finish" has a couple of books that were free, and that the authors hoped I would review. I hate to completely discount those books, but a couple of them are pretty bad. I hate to leave bad reviews, so those books are in limbo.

All of the above named collections (except for the "Couldn't Finish" one) are named with this convention:   . Currently Reading (space between the period and the C). When sorted by title, these collections come up first. I have "Couldn't Finish" named as _ Couldn't Finish. That puts it one the 2nd or 3rd page of my listings so that I don't feel so guilty about having not finished those books.   I used the underscore space name convention for authors' series so that I could find them quickly. The underscore moves those collections to the position right after the period space name.

I know this is a lot more information than you wanted, but it's working really well for me. I have some other types of collections, as well, and it's easy to find what I'm looking for.

Thanks -- I like the idea of a completed, but I also want to keep the "genre" -- e.g., mystery, SciFi, Fantasy, Historical, etc.

I have my books segregated by genre, and it would be nice if there was a simple check mark or [X] (or similar) to indicate that the book has been completed.

The dots are ok, but not great.

That's what I do with mine. Books go into their appropriate collection but also into 'unread'. When I've finished them they go into 'read'. That way I can always see all my unread books together regardless of genre, making it easier to decide what to read next.

That's what I have, Intinst. I have my collections of books that I'm reading, have read, plan to read soon, need to pick up again, and can't finish. Then, I have collections listed by each author's name and series designation, such as J.D. Robb (In Death series), followed by collections listed by authors' names. Following those categories are the genre listings. I've finally figured out a system that works well for me. Once I got it through my thick head that I needed to sort by titles, all has been well.

Is there a way to see what collections a book belongs to one screen?

Pick the book, right arrow and select Add to Collection. The collections the book is in will have ticks next to them.
